I've got a scene with bunch of objects in it, spaced out according to client specs. Cloner wouldnt work for me in this case, as I need the spacing of the objects to fit a precise and non-uniform series of positions.

Long story short: I need to swap out the objects. I'm going to just bite the bullet and do it by hand (won't be that big a deal - just annoying). Is there any way to automate something like this next time, short of using XRefs in place of the objects? Like, some way to grab every instance of model X and replace it with model Y? (I know I could do this if I used XRefs to build out the positioning the first time...but what's done is done.)

Maybe try dropping the object under the to-be-replaced object, and using the "reset psr" function? take it out of the hiearchy and delete the old object...
