I also wonder if those are rigged cg characters or match-moved footage. I'm guessing the latter.

"Production on "Play it Blue" involved several different steps for the MK12 directing and animation team. After mapping out the proposed shooting sequence via an animated 3D mock-up of the entire spot, the MK12 crew shot live footage of the actors on a Kansas City, Missouri, sound stage (TakeTwo Productions), then treated the footage using Adobe After Effects for a posterized, graphics-heavy effect. The footage was then composited into 3D backgrounds created in Alias Maya. "

check it out. it shows a before and after compositing video. What I'd like to know is how did they get that clean vector look? Is there a plugin for that or did they just use a stack of filters to achieve that?

Originally I thought it was the former, but I've been hitting the site at all hours for the past two days, and I haven't had any luck. I'm now leaning toward the latter.

the mk12 server has been updated. or rather, there is a new mk12 server, with more ram and things and other noteworthy server related talking points that will make the site much more responsive.
this should make it better, chad says.
