  3. Great stuff. Does anyone know of an equivalent to Inertia Bounce in Cinema 4D? Would be really useful ... Thanks
  4. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good simple C4D IK / Joint tutorial to get me started? Thanks!
  5. Second that - sound design is great, lifts the whole reel.
  6. Lots to think about ... reckon I need to get hold of a copy of Shake, learn it and move to LA! Thanks for the tips ... can anyone reccomend a good compositing / VFX website with more info / tutorials / industry news?
  7. Definitely something to consider - not sure where you'd start to try and get into that though - from being a motion graphics designer ....?
  8. Yep - fluent in Americanese this end ... Thats well interesting to hear - certainly makes me look at my current situation very differently. Guess its time to start listing studios / companies ... Thanks for your time mate
  9. Yep - it is easier to work in Europe - but then there are the language barriers (us Brits aren't great at learning other languages) - but on the whole you're spot on. Nothing to lose really? Thanks for the heads up on hiring / sponsoring foreign designers too, that is all new to me - had previously been told it was nigh on impossible to get hired (unless you were at the top of your game in London / Europe).
  10. Big thanks for the replies - really useful (was expecting sarcasm, I really am far too cynical ...). Dave - my folio site / reel is almost ready to launch so am looking forward to getting it out there - I definitely want to continue in the mograph world. Regarding leaving the UK and working in the US - I always thought that you had to be a 'superstar' designer with totally exceptional work for an LA / NY / major worldwide studio to consider you seriously (especially considering visas etc) ... but maybe I am wrong! Kevin - great advice - I have been thinking along the lines of art / creative director roles, great to hear them actually 'defined' though! Yussef - will do (your reel is ace too)
  11. Hi, (Bit of a vague post this but here goes ...) I am currently working as a freelance motion graphics designer in the UK - 8 years experience designing for various Broadcast / Corporate clients using After Effects and C4D. Having worked at a couple of small design agencies, one international brand, a large post production house and a couple of periods of freelance in the past I now find myself at a bit of a career crossroads. I am keen to continue using my experience and skills in a creative industry but also feel I need a new challenge. I have often found that being a motion graphic designer is a lonely job without a great deal of collaboration, with projects that only seem to last a few days before starting a fresh. I'd really like to be part of a team that was working on larger, longer projects but am struggling to find this kind of role, whilst using my skills. I was just wondering if anyone here could suggest the type of role or company / employer I should be looking at? I feel like I'm missing a trick ... I'd be really interested in hearing how other peoples careers have progressed and how they might have evolved from being a designer chained to a computer, to something else? Oh, and I'd love to work abroard - Europe / US / Canada etc - so if anyone has any advice on tips on how they've done this I'd love to hear it. Sorry for rambling and look forward to any replies! H.
