  1. That was more than harsh man. You all need to realize that I'm just sharing what I'm learning. I'm not here to be the next FXPHD. I'm just sharing my knowledge my own way. You all say back up, but none of you know what my plans are for an actual job. You all think you know that I want to be the next big motion graphics artist, but I don't. I actually hate motion graphics with a passion. I'm just sharing thinking particle tutorials and anything else I feel like sharing. If you don't like that then don't come to my site. I don't want to come off rude or as a know it all but you all need to back off and realize one or two things. I'm an 18 year old sharing my knowledge as I learn it. I'm not trying to be video copilot or GSG. I don't care what any of you think, but I do take your advice into consideration. And lastly my tutorials help hundreds of people every week. I know this because they tell me. Thanks for trying to help but I avoid this forum because everyone here assumes they know me and everyone here assumes they're right about everything mograph. Most of you are often right about mograph, there's no doubt there. Almost everyone here is quite a professional in mograph even. Just please understand guys, I just want to make tutorials and have some fun making stuff. I'm not interested in making motion graphics as a job, and I never will be.
  2. Thanks for the input guys, I've started to focus a little more on my own stuff and I've tried to keep it all original. I've taken what you said into consideration as well about the focus of Thinking Particles and I'll try to do that for now. I did name it Think particle because I like thinking of small subtle things that change our daily lives, like particles, but I guess that's not what people would think initially... Anyways I'm actually working on a project now that will push my limits as far as they can go. I hope to make a really awesome short film this year and on to early next spring. I also hope I haven't offended anyone, I understand making a tutorial that was in a making of was a bad idea, I just got ahead of myself to get started. I'm passionate and nothings going to stop me, but I hope I don't get cocky and allow myself to listen to your great advice. I know I should have my first time around here. That little forum page with 5 pages of reactions went on long enough and got a lot of valid points across. Anyways concluding I hope to really fine tune my skills and show off stuff worth showing off. (My tutorials will keep coming however, whether I have a studio background or not I get a lot of people messaging me thanking me for helping them. That is why I make them)
  3. I'm not calling myself think particle to reference thinking particles, it may sound that way but it's because i like to think about particles when I do 3D render.. I do however plan to use quite a bit of thinking particles, and the blog is also going to be a learning experience because i'm not that great at thinking particles either, but I do know how to learn. Thanks for the kind words, I hope it works well too. I'm going to keep working hard and see where it takes me.
  4. He made a making of for his. I didn't really consider it a tutorial because the people in the comments said they had a hard time following it. I made my own version and then a tutorial of how I made mine. Plus he got credit for the original concept.
  5. Well I'll be honest, I'm not the most popular guy on mograph.net after my little stunt i pulled, but I hope that won't affect the outcome of this posting. I was on vimeo and I say David Drayton's Seeds v.2 and thought, hmmm I could make that. So I did. Then I made a tutorial. http://www.thinkparticle.com/?p=31 Shouldn't have done it so late, but at least i sat down and got it done after months of saying I wanted to and would. Oh and the website redesign is a little better now compared to earlier, but it's still crap and I'm going to grab a separate theme. Thoughts? Anything else you want to learn?

  7. For some reason my profile picture is of Christopher Nolan.. I don't know how that happened..

  8. Okay.. I see where your coming from.. I did come at this with a bad approach and made a crappy name for myself here.. I'm gonna take a break from mograph for a while.. stick to regular chat on the other forum (video copilots) and Go easy with my blog.. not take it down.. but focus on creating content.. I thought a lot about it and I have better content, but none of it is good enough yet.. So thats what I need to do. So grabbing my camera and after effects is my plan before blogging about all my 'good ideas'.. Does this seem better? Sorry about seeming so stubborn.. I guess its hard for me to accept new things sometimes.. I do know you guys are all trying to help though..
  9. Okay, thank you. My site lacks experience. I'll have to work on that, but that'll take time obviously.. But thanks for the answer. Sam Welker
  10. I know you guys all think i'm jumping in head first I haven't exactly listed my experience though You guys don't have a good first impression of who I am or what I do. Especially cause your first impression was 5 months ago. Just realize I've worked on films and I know a lot about film, but what I know even more is that there are going to be weeks with 2 hours of sleep a night (if that) there's going to be days I will want to go die from all the stress, but I won't, and theres going to be HUGE issues and I'll have to find work arounds. I also know there are a million and one things I don't know yet, but the way I learn is by watching and doing. I have had a little experience, but Right now is the ideal time to start working on my own little projects to get a taste of how it works. And then in a few years I'll start to work towards the industry, even if that takes 10 years, i know what I have to do to make it and I know that being humble about it and never giving up is one thing thats going to help a lot! I don't want to sound Like I know everything because I am fully aware i know practically nothing about this industry compared to others who have had 6 years of schooling and grew up near this stuff. But I know I can make it and I won't ever let myself give up or get down. Sorry but after all of this, even if you think i'm crazy, your wasting your time replying.. sorry to be rude, but i'm not going to change my mind. Thanks for the help. I appreciate the concern, but I would have just liked to know what my content need and what my site lacks. Sam Welker
  11. Fine then, just tell me i need more content without dropping several f bombs for no reason.. Seriously..
  12. Well two things.. I know i ruined my name here, but i haven't ruined it elsewhere. I am no longer at full sail (I was quickly unimpressed with their schooling) and i am fully aware that no one here is hating. Trust me, I've come a long way from the person I was 5 months ago. I am currently branding myself as a visual effects artist and I am not planning on stopping. I am glad you gave me your advice, however I don't think i'll take it all. I have a route set that I am sure to work, Nothing in little fun graphics. I plan to work in film for life. I may even try to get payed making videos on youtube. I have the capability. I just haven't tried hard enough yet. Also, fiverr, agreed. That is a waste of my time and money. I'm currently working as a photographer for weddings and events and making good money for my age. I can still make it into this industry, mainly because I haven't really stepped into the film world online yet. I have maybe one account on a film forum but the online part of me that got all screwed over was in graphic design, the area I don't plan on touching. I am getting a lot of hits on my site. I won't lie a good amount are from this site, however, I get 50 to 150 hits a day from other sites and such. Not negative locations like this one. I'm hitting 100 to 200 hits a day on my site, and getting feed back. I've been live for 4 days. I've gained more subscriptions on youtube through this site. I am seeing results. The difference now is my target audience. The world you seem to believe I want to work in has an adult target audience. My current audience is 10 year old kids to 18 year old teens on youtube who want to watch cool videos and learn how this is done. I am not working for five dollars any more. I figured out what i believe my time is worth right now and I'm working hard to make money doing that. One day I may want to work on a project projected at adults, however I don't think that will be any time soon. Also Independent films, I've worked on some locally and I have gained a lot of knowledge through there. What I'm trying to get at is I've set things in motion and if I get off now I'm not sure how things will be able to start up later as. Thanks for the help, I'll keep checking back, but I'd really prefer that I just get critique on what I've asked for. I know you're trying to help, but i promise you, even if it takes 10 years I will be working in this industry (Filmmaking) and making a good living. Sam Welker. http://www.samwelkertv.com/

  14. And thanks I'll work hard and keep at it. When you say the well has been poisoned what do you mean? and I want that site picked apart in every way! I want to know what my videos can improve on and what my site can improve on! Thanks! Sam Welker http://www.samwelkertv.com/
