  1. You could do that with the graph editor, or you could use an expression. All of that bouncy type motion is done with exponentially decaying Sine waves. (Much easier than what it sounds). Dan eberts has an expression that works on the y axis here. http://www.motionscript.com/expressions-lab-ae65/jack-in-the-box.html If you know anything about javascript, you could edit it also for scale, and or the x axis. Otherwise, you'll probably find other examples of that effect here. http://www.motion-graphics-exchange.com/
  2. Is there a way to change the shape of the force in the Shatter effect in AE? I'm not talking about a custom shatter map. But the shape of the force. It's a sphere. But what if I want it to be a square, or a triangle, etc. It kinda seems like this effect hasn't been updated in a while.
  3. It's better if you use Dynamics. Use Thrausi (or another destruction plugin) to break up your object, then use the tracer object.
  4. Pscale should work. Add a PPass node, then connect the Pscale node to it. Make sure the gradient is active, then invert the knots, so that is goes from black to white. Black = zero scale, white = full scale. And then you can adjust how big you want it to get under Size.
  5. I'm going back to Windows Movie Maker.
  6. Here's some links: http://sketchypictures.com/tutorials/tutorials/cartoon_ae.html http://vimeo.com/7911087 http://vimeo.com/20687628 (This guy has a bunch of tutorials on doing advanced/subtle character animation)
  7. You're one of the few guys on here using a PC. Just curious, whatcha got? I'm using a Dell quad-core. But I'm gonna have to make a serious upgrade within the next year or so.
  8. Uh... does it have to be 3d? Why don't you just use After Effects, using the stroke, or write-on effect.
  9. How complicated is this chair? Is it hard surface or cloth? If it's hard surface, why not animate a cube/plank rotating, then drop it in a null, drop that in a cloner object, then use the delay effector to offset everything?
  10. What I do is: Find out what the client wants, then I go directly to Video Co-Pilot, and find a tutorial that best fits their needs. Then I do the tutorial, replace the text where necessary and claim the work is mine.
  11. You can also increase the damping to lower the jitter.
  12. Yup. That reel is pretty sweet. How long you been doing this?
  13. The footage is tracked using (Mocha, Pftrack, Sytheyes, etc.) Then Text is dropped in. I'm not sure if it's 3D, or just beveled in after effects.
  14. How about Zombieland? I totally dug the text stuff that movie.
  15. If anybody's interested, the answer to this is here. http://www.base80.com/index.php/2006/02/15/connecting_cables_2_hair_tut
  16. So I have a Spline with a Spline Dynamics tag attached. The first point in the spline is fixed, but I want the last point in the spline attached to an object, an object that I can move around freely. I've tried using an xpresso point node to attach it, but the dynamics overrides it, and the object goes swinging with the spline. I've also tried making the spline a child of the object, but it moves both points. Any help would be awesome.

  18. How about the Joker monologue from the Dark Knight? When he's in the police station talking to the cop... "You wanna know why I use a knife? A gun is too quick... you can't savor all the little emotions..."
  19. Damn. That's awesome.
  20. Yup. This is pretty rad. Although, I loved that rocket piece from your other reel.
