  1. Hey Mograph! I thought I'd drop by to fill you in on my new project. I've been a freelance motion designer for the past 9 years (https://www.motioncrafter.com/). I'm passionate about helping fellow motion designers with their freelance careers, so I launched a blog to do just that! Feel free to check it out here: https://www.motionandmoney.com/ If you have any article suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment below! Thank you, Steve Tenuto
  2. Thanks jay! I didn't think of that. And beaver, it's kind of an open-ended job and I just want to do a good job for something to put in my reel.
  3. xllr8, I was thinking something more similar to this: I've downloaded as a MOV and gone frame by frame, looks to me like they drew 30 fps over top video. (Psyop LA)
  4. Hey all, I'm going to attempt to do a cell animation spot for a project I have lined out with a client. It will include shooting live action and tracing each frame with a wacom. What's the best workflow for this? Probably using illustrator. Thanks.
  5. Hey guys, anyone ever have a problem of the RAM preview hanging (pinwheeling) for about 15 seconds after clicking on the timeline for it to stop playing? I'm running a quad-core i7 iMac with 8GB ram. This JUST started this morning when I started a new project. Thanks.
  6. Hey guys, I was just wondering if there's a forum that is as helpful and resourceful as mograph.net for web development and design? Thanks!
  7. I have a 27" and love the shit out of it.
  8. Hi, So I'm working on some cell phone digital signage and I will be having the cellphone spinning/flipping throughout the animation. Since I simply want the cellphone to spin/flip on it's own axis, animating the object as opposed to the cameras seems to be easiest. Anyway, once I get the cellphone lit and animated to what I want, I want to render to a PNG sequence and import into AE for some compositing and graphics/text that spins along with the phone; like THIS. I know how to make the camera movements transfer into AE, but since I'm not using cameras, how can I get motion paths from C4D to use in AE? Thanks.

  10. Hey guys, while I know my way around Cinema, I'm by no means a good modeler. I'm going to be diving into some projects for a local mobile phone company and will be needing some nice 3d models of popular phones out today. The majority of the pieces will be done in AE. I found a lot of what I need on the3dstudio.com. Most of their models include a .3ds, .obj, .c4d, etc.. Has anyone messed with these models? How much re-texturing work (if any) will I need to do? Or should I just man up and learn to model better? ...But seriously. Thanks guys.
  11. Oh and I rejuvenated my site a little today after work. stephentenuto.com
  12. Well thanks. That's by far my least favorite piece too. It'll be replaced no doubt. bvaz, thanks for your advice! I haven't had any training on design. I desperately need some sort of formal training; I also think it could help with my patterns of centered comps. I'm going to order thinking with type book right now. Thanks so far!
  13. Nope, I've just torn apart about every reel on the internet frame-by-frame and kept a large folder of images/videos of design I aspire to for inspiration.
  14. I don't have any print experience, but I do have a background doing several short mountain bike films. I've also messed with photoshop a lot over the past couple years. I had to sell my camera last November and picked up motion design in return. haha. Thanks for the kind words! And thank you for the pointers! Can anyone comment on what more I need in the reel? I feel like I have the eye and skill set to make a better one, but my 13" macbook is limiting me quite a bit.
  15. Hey guys, here's an update to my reel. The S logo is my new attempt at "branding" myself a little. http://www.stephentenuto.com Making a move to the LA area this summer so any criticism VERY much appreciated! ...Gotta get a job down there. Thanks!
