  1. Here are two examples I have seen: https://vimeo.com/4936492 http://favoritecolor.tv/project.php?project=ast09001
  2. Hello, I have been messing around with a similar effect at work trying to offset mesh from realflow with a slider. So far I have been unsuccessful. This may be a another topic entirely but it seems relevant here. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Dix 2012 Reel

It was probably 50% my headphones

    Dix 2012 Reel

Same, it kind of hurt my ears.
  5. Listen to the V.O. to get a feeling on how and when things are being said. I'm working a similar job right now and that's usually the first thing I do to get an idea of how it should look.
  6. Keep in mind if you turn on ambient occlusion and your extrude nurbs is only slightly scaled in from your bottle your liquid will be dark and could have artifacts when you go to render.
  7. Digital Tutors is great. A lot of content for a lot of applications.
  8. This was posted a few months ago on motionographer, it's a good place to start CG Studio Map
  9. I'm only a two chapters into this book but it has a very easy to follow approach that encourages you to follow along in IDLE. Also, I found out recently that the code academy will soon have a python course. GREAT!
  10. I know fxphd was brought up, but animation mentor is out there too for character animation if you are interested in getting advanced 3D training down the road.
  11. I agree 100% with this. Most schools have job boards that have postings from alumni who work in the industry or school specific postings on college central
  12. I do them as exercises and if they end up on my reel than that's just an added bonus. I have several projects (too many) that I've spent a month of free time after work and weekends on that I've killed before render. The hard part is deleting them to make room for more bad ideas
  13. Thanks for the response, part of the piece does involve dynamics. That makes a lot of sense, I'll give it a go!
  14. Hello, I am working with Cinema 4D 11.5 and noticed that a document can not be set to more than 500 FPS. Is there any way to go beyond this to something closer to 1500 FPS?
  15. I know I am coming into this discussion late but as far as the argument of them being unreliable, I have not found this to be the case. I have run into them at smaller studios and they did not have any snags. For personal use, it makes a lot of sense if your running a Mac Book Pro on the go. However, the differences are minimal between Windows 7 and Mac OSX, and could be equated to breaking in a new pair of shoes. It is more of a personal preference than a reliability argument in my opinion. I worked on one for almost a year and I loved it.
  16. I have worked on a hackintosh before, I did not build it but as far as I can tell whoever did based it off this: http://www.matthewmintun.com/hackintosh-build-for-the-professional/ it was incredibly fast and reliable running Cinema 4d 11.5 and the CS4 suite.

  18. I can't wait to check out the stereoscopic workflow!
  19. I would start by cleaning your fan and making sure that there isn't too much dust slowing it down. Then if you are still getting really high temperatures place a fan in the room your working in and try to increase the air flow.
  20. I've had similar problems, but it is usually because the cpu temp is getting too hot. Have you checked that with iStat?
  21. I sometimes use it because of tight deadlines. It's easier than doing a million render tests to make sure my lights are all positioned correctly and when I have had GI issues I've only had to rerender a couple of frames to fix them.
  22. i love the way shot framed through the trees, awesome piece.
  23. Great reel, your depth camera rig is awesome too. I've used it a few times and it works great
