Right on thanks, I caught a thread about ,I believe, classic design books to own. Thanks for that bit of advice.
  2. Yes, exactly, I approached this venue not from an artistic/literacy standpoint, but from the point of view that it be nice, arguably of course, to have a place where users can just let loose their thoughts. No matter how subjective, the responses are. As it states in the about part, think of it as an empty park to just let loose your feelings or as you put it, sharpee scribble on bathroom stall walls. This is also the reason why posts generated randomly, and not searchable. Good points you make, much appreciated.

    IDEA magazine

Yes, thats one of many aspects I really dig about the magazine. Which brings me to my next question, you mentioned to find a good bookstore. Does anyone know of any good bookstore's in the Southern California area, that carries IDEA magazine?
  4. Hopefully its ok to post this, if not sorry. Its a project Ive been working on called Project Mindspeak. I thought I might share it with everyone, feel free to let loose whenever you feel the need to. Criticism and feedback is always welcome.

    IDEA magazine

I'm looking into getting a subscription to IDEA magazine, which is it seems going to cost an arm and leg + maybe a head too. Yet I've heard a few praises about this magazine. Anyone have any opinions on it? Anyone currently receive it? I did a search on the forum for it but only one turned up which was about one issue (Saul Baas).
  6. With regard to favorite bookstore's in LA, Skylight Books, it love going to that bookstore. I beleive it is even curated. Another bookstore that I have heard of but have yet to visit is Book Soup. Also, my favorite bookstore of all time, is not in LA, but is Seattle called Powells Bookstore, a pretty big bookstore that is also curated. Oh, and if you ever go to skylight, next door is a little japanese cafe called 'Mako.' Cheap and good lunch.
  7. I am in agreement with Thinking with Type, as this is a pretty good read and short as well. I especially like the way it is laid out with the essay portion first then continuing on into the more practical lessons.

Hi all, Wasn't sure if this was the place to put this. So, my name is James, I'm new to motion graphics. I came across this site while looking for information in general about anything motion graphics. I think its safe to say Ive got motion graphics fever and am just trying to suck up as much info as possible. Anyway, from the looks of it this forum seems to be pretty promising. Any books anyone would recommend? I was looking at the lynda.com tutorials as a starting point, whats your opinion on these tutorials? Thanks!
