  1. My type is smooth in the viewport, but when I go to render it's not smooth...? Anybody know why this would be happening? Screenshots below.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cwksr3qmle5unww/Screen%20shot%202014-03-02%20at%201.38.54%20PM.png https://www.dropbox.com/s/4tzgpjuxn39akc2/Screen%20shot%202014-03-02%20at%201.38.41%20PM.png
  2. Anybody know any friendly Render Farms for C4D that will render projects that are using the Ray Connector plugin?
  3. I've done this before in the past, but it's always been by hand. I'm wondering if there's another way to do this that would help speed things up. Basically I want to fill a shape with circles. But I don't want them all on a grid, like you get with the grid Cloner and cutting out the grid with a Volume effector. I want them to be randomized in scale, but have all the circles close together, touching. I've gotten close with using volume and random effectors, but some intersect each other and some areas have huge gaps. Is there anyway to make cloners and volume effectors non-intersecting?
  4. I love C4d... Don't get me wrong, but not being able to adjust your keyframe velocity independently is stupid... This, to me, seems to be the biggest flaw in the software I have found as of yet. Is there an answer to this? I have my camera movements approved by my creative director, I was just instructed (and rightfully so) to make the ease softer into my keyframes. So, I'm trying to do this in the timeline editor with f-curves, but that's messing up my position. Though it's working to create an ease, I do not want to mess up my camera's position though... Please help! This is so frustrating! Tommy
  5. Anybody know how I can have two separate and unique thinking particle setups in one scene? I've included the scene file below. What I wanna do is have 3 different Vortex thingies and have separate control over how much the gravity node effects each vortex, independently. I know somebody know's how to do this ish! 7. Does anybody know the keyboard shortcut to frame up a keyframe in the timeline? Like in the viewport if I select an object then type "S" and it brings the object right to the center of view. I'm looking for the equivalent of this with keyframes in the timeline editor…. Hook a brutha up!!! Tommy
  8. So does anybody know how to scale down a null that has a few moving animations inside it without messing up the animations? I tried putting it in a cloner and baking it with a cache tag, then scaling it down, but that didn't work. I figure this has got to be pretty simple…. Any help would be great! 9. So, this is really simple to do in Maya, but how do I render a wireframe or flat shaded animatic of my scene in c4d? I need it to render fast. I tried cel renderer but it's not rendering fast enough. I need a lighter method. Any tips would be great! Tommy
  10. Does anybody know how I can get my thinking particles to leave the emitter and make semi frequent and random stops and starts as it's growing out away from the emitter? I want my object's growth to seem kind of twitchy and staggered, but only in their travel away from the emitter, not twitchy position of the particles... I've included screenshots to my scene and expresso window.... I've got a crazy deadline. Please help! Tommy
  11. Hey guys, Im trying to have red, black and white spheres emit from this thinking particle setup. Anybody have an idea how I can do this and possibly also be able to control the amount of each color? Not just have each color evenly distributed. I've attached a screenshot of my project and the expresso window. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Tommy http://postimg.org/image/xcoq4zd31/
  12. An easy one, but a great started project if you've never used them before. We create a pattern to use as a gobo in Cinema 4D to project onto objects using a light. http://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=xoo_vV1uSIg
  13. hi, I am working on a personal project involving animated calligraphy in C4D. sweeps with a rail and a bit of expresso for the scale details work great for pointy endings but I am really struggling with complex end shapes. see L shape below. I was messing around with the spline wrap deformer and got somewhere (at least) but not where I want it to be. the spline wrap idea was to model a flat shape with round tips and animate the size of the spline wrap deformer while growing. so i thought at least. the problem was that the tips get compressed at the start of the animation. so I thought about having the flat shape with round tips growing along an axis and making sure the tips stay intact. to test this I used a capsule primitive inside of a null. it works somehow but I don't think its a elegant solution. scene of my test How would you tackle a growth like that? thanks best flow

  16. See here, I've made these models look like they're trying to burst through a condom. It's great and all, except that the deformed meshes always cause a crease between the undeformed polygons and those polygons that the Collision Object is stretching. I will go away and play with using the Stretch and Falloff vertex maps - according to the help page on the Collision object, the Stretch mpa field determines the smoothness of the transition between the deformed and non-deformed polys. But in practice that's not really happening. Adding a hypernurbs doesn't smooth the crease like HN subdivide would, instead the crease is reinforced by the subdivision. Does anyone know how to make two surfaces that are on the exact same plane not to intersect and fuzz up at render time? The Connect object isn't working in this case. To test, try glomming a plane onto a cylinder with the Surface modifier - you'll soon see what I meant if you do anything interesting with it...

  18. Hi guys, just wanted to share the collaboration of myself and sonosanctus (sound design) for this years Pause Fest in Melbourne. 19. Hey guys, This is probably a simple question but here goes: The station I work for has had its redesign done by an agency who supplied me the logo in MAX format. The problem is that I use C4D (and AE with element3D). Should I: A: Download and install a trial of 3ds max, open and export the files to OBJ (is it possible?) ? B: Ask someone who has 3ds max to export the files for me? C: Give up and redesign it myself in C4D (its only an extruded helvetica font, 3 basic colors and simple shading as far as I can see. But I'm pretty new to materials etc and i'd probably have to tinker quite a bit to achieve the same shading... see screenshot) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, Cheers!
  20. Hey everyone! I've been sitting in the shadows for the longest time soaking up all the knowledge and everything being shared on this site, so I wanted to attempt to give back in a small way as a 'thank you'. I made a shader set from all the holiday ornaments I had to make for a project recently and decided to share it with you all! Also on my blog you'll find other C4D models I'm sharing, like some bows for presents and some Christmas tree lights. Enjoy and Happy Holidays! UPDATE: I updated this pack to volume 2, it's got over 50 textures now and I added another ornament type. Enjoy and happy holidays! Link to download Holiday Shader Pack
  21. Hi there, I'm really happy to present my newly updated portfolio site, created from a simple wordpress theme: www.jordipages.com Would be really happy If you have a quick visit and let me know if you consider it responsive / adaptive or any other point that might be worth mentioning. Thanks a lot in advance! Best Jordi

  23. So, I'm beginning a scene here in C4D R14 for the wonderful new addition to this release - the "motion camera tag". Such a great tool. Super realistic handheld feel that I have been unable to perfect in earlier releases. My dilemma is that I want to use vray for texturing and rendering but I do not have vray for R14, I do have it for R13 though... So, I'm wondering, is there a way to bake the motion that the motion tag is creating on the camera into keyframes? Or is there some kind of way that I can get that camera motion back into R13?... If anyone has any experience with this please help! Tommy
  24. Had some problems trying to export an AEC file from C4D R15 this morning and wanted to share a workaround a coworker let me know about. When using the physical renderer I was unable to export an AEC file. My computer, a windows PC, would hang up and require a force quit. By changing the renderer back to standard, I was able to export the AEC file as usual. I still rendered my scene with the physical renderer, but then switched back to the standard renderer just to export my AEC. Pretty silly.
