  1. Hi, I am trying to get a mesh build up animation going in c4d. I have put a link below with a example on how it must look like. Can some of you help me out on how to set this up in c4d. So not the plexus effect but only the c4d setup. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ru7k4ptivie2p6d/Faces.mp4?dl=0 Thanks!
  2. Hi Guys, Long time since I made one of these, let me know if you have any tips on the edit or on work I did. If you have any question how I did curtain scene, let me know! Software: C4D & AE Rendering tools: http://www.dropandrender.com
  3. hi, i have this pre animated, PLA baked radio waves. so the clones are all set on 0,0,0. then a step effector offsets the animatin and so the radio waves do their thing. so far so good now ... when a wave hits another object it should change its color. i was playing around with the collision detection node but whatever i did i couldnt get it to work. i saw some stuff with real dynamic collisions but i only need a collision event. any clues? any clues? thx flow
  4. Hi I have kind of a weird solve... I'm running a Plain Effector through a sphere to effect the scale of the faces. The problem was in order to do so I needed to disconnect the face of the sphere to get the result I wanted causing the edges of the face to remain hard or faceted. When I put it in a connect object it will give me the connection I need but remove the Plain Effector effect. I was wondering if there was a way to reconnect the vertices of the object outside of the effector radius? Essentially It would be nice to create a custom connect object that has a fall off... I don't know if that is even achievable? But any suggestions or way to set something up would be helpful. Thanks,

  6. Hello All, It's been some time since I last visited mograph.net. I wanted to share some work I completed earlier this fall at McMillan Agency for out client, BrandActive. This project was a lot of fun as it had been a while since I animated in this style. Hope you enjoy, feedback is welcome of course! https://youtu.be/HA8uYPHLHJc Thanks!
  7. Hello all, I'm very new here, and new to the community in general. I wanted to post my reel, to see what people thought, understand where I'm coming from, but also use it as a chance to introduce my self. I'll post it now, so and blab afterwards: A little about me: I studied film and video production in college, with every intention of being an editor, and down the line becoming a director. When I graduated, I had a rough time finding a job in the area I lived, and would spend half of my day sending out resumes, and the other half trying to learn something that would give me an edge: AE and C4D. I had used the programs in school, but there were no classes offered in the mograph world, nor animation(in the film department), so I had always been self taught. Fastforward, I've now been working about 3 years in the MoGraph industry for the same tiny studio, constantly trying to throw in freelance where I can to offset the tedium of the "tech explainer videos" I make daily. I would love any thoughts you have on how the reel is structured, the content of the reel, and to just to get to know people in this community. I just finished Binky's series on building a reel, and I already have a feeling mine breaks a couple rules (especially length). Speaking of length, I'll stop talking now. Cheers! -Alex
  8. What NAB was like for us as motion graphic artists and why networking is so important. Also, how to keep things from getting stale in your career and life. You know, deep stuff. Enjoy.
  9. Hi! This is a short film (very short) I made out of authentic vintage mugshots from the 1920's and the (made up) crimes behind them. Music by the very talanted Timo Baker / jonas
  10. Just finished this vid for sound artist Derek Piotr (http://derekpiotr.com/) Combined video and 2.5D to create something soothing but strange. Hope you guys enjoy it!

    Hansome Reel

Hi guys, I used to frequent this forum back in the day. Here is a reel for my company based in LA: http://handsome.website/reel/ thanks for watching!
  12. Hi, I am looking for a way to distribute clones along a spline. At the beginning of the splines the clones should have distance A and at the end of the spline distance B. I want to animate the clones through and offset... Basically I would like for them to have a larger gap between them at the beginning of the spline and while they move along reduce the gap between the clones... Any ideas how to achieve that? Thanks
  13. Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to animate layers in AE in a similar way to Mograph in C4D. Basically, im thinking of an array object, that would duplicate my original precomp, and have some basic animatable features (scale, rotation, position). So far i've been using Echo for a linear / radial cloning effect, but i think there must be a better way for that. Any ideas? thanks, Csaba
  14. hi, i got another shader effector question and i was hoping you guys can help me out. ok, i got a simple test scene. cloner in grid mode with shader effector. effector got some animated noise. now via colorizer and mographs color shader i put animated colors on my clones. now i want the clones to appear and dissapear randomly. easy as pie, just add the mograph color shader to the material alpha. that works fine, BUT, what if i wanted a different shader effector to control the alpha. how do i do that? hope you know what i mean. test scene file is here! thanks!
  15. Hi everybody, I’m looking for some advice on a new mac purchase. I need a mac primarily for design, editing and 2D/3D motion graphics but also everyday use. I also need a monitor as I’ve been using a MBP retina up to now. So I’m thinking of getting the following: imac retina 4.0GHz Quad Core i7 (turbo boost up to 4.4Ghz) 32GB ram with AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5 Which will be fine for most tasks (I’ll keep my laptop for team render) but no Nvidia = no CUDA. I have a big shopping list of things I’m continuing to learn but pretty soon I’m going to want to try GPU rendering, almost certainly using Octane as it seems to have the biggest take-up of any GPU based renderer. I know I probably should get a PC at this stage, but I’m kicking and screaming against it for many reasons which I won’t detail here. My question is once I reach that point and assuming Open CL take up is still some time away will I be able to connect an external chassis, power unit and a 2-3 Nvidia/cuda cards, connected to my iMac retina over Thunderbolt 2? At this point my limited understanding melts my puny brain. I have all kinds of concerns about cooling/blowing up expensive graphics cards and I have no idea if this is even possible over Thunderbolt 2. Maybe the data will be too much to handle through a single thunderbolt connection. Will the iMac recognise the cards connected in this way, will Octane be as responsive as if it was connected over PCI? etc etc… I’m sure a lot of freelancers/small studios are also pondering the future of GPU rendering using macs so any help is really appreciated before I waste my dollars on a grand plan that won’t pan out. Like I said, I know a Windows PC makes the most sense but I’m looking for a mac only solution. Many thanks! Oliver
  16. The 2015 update is my first since going freelance. Tried to keep it to mostly new stuff, short, and only show the kind of work I want to do. Also included a site facelift (still in progress). As always, feedback encouraged and appreciated.
  17. Wondering if anyone here has begun using NOTA Effector since it's release a month or so ago, and what kind of stuff you might've built with it, where you feel you saved a lot of time vs. built-in Mograph tools, etc. Can't seem to find any legit reviews of the product online but I may be looking in the wrong places. http://renato-tarabella.com/product/nota-effector/
  18. I found this on Vimeo from last year, maybe someone likes it like i did. And maybe someone knows something similar, car rigs for C4D... i would love to see! Cheers
  19. Hi guys, This might sound familiar, but there's no documentation or thread providing an answer. I've been trying to roll up a plane along a spline but gave up on it. This is what I tried so far: the Bend deformer would do the trick, if there only was a possibility to offset its anchor point - but there isn't using a Plane, a Spline Wrap Deformer and a Helix doesn't work, as I haven't found a way to get a flat in & out vector - the plane always shoots out of the helix at some angle a mospline could possibly work, but it doesn't have an offset parameter, nor would it look like a proper roll - so it's rather special Am I missing any technique? Cheers, Will
  20. How's the work in SD? I'm most likely moving out that way next year, and wondering how hard it's gonna be to find work. Obviously there's a lot a few hours north, but commuting is out of the question for the most part.

    New Site/Reel

Finally decided to go freelance after 4 years working full time. New site and reel below. Thoughts appreciated. Cheers www.visionism.tv
  22. Hey Guys, Can't seem to work this one out. I'm using mograph to position grass randomly onto a surface (the top surface of a subdivided cube with a displacement deformer). Is there a way to use an image to determine the distribution of objects? I'm sure there's a super simple answer and I'm just not picking it up. Cheers, Dane.
  23. Thought I would post my new reel for all to see in the mograph.net community Have a look! http://www.semifiction.tv/reel/
  24. I expect, like a lot of you guys, you watch a lot of reels and other mograph pieces. I usually sit and watch a few things on Animade or Squeezeme.tv with my first coffee, every morning when I get into work. I've pulled out a few 'showreel tropes' that hopefully some of you will agree with - and I bet there are plenty I've forgotten about... would love to have you input as to commonalities in reels. It's been an interesting study coming up with this shortlist. Cheers guys (hope I've got the right forum)
