  2. Hey all, Using Cinema 4D I am trying to re create a ribbon type banner (an example of what I mean can be found here : http://i.imgur.com/k7zMU.jpg )The best way I could think about creating this simple shape in Cinema was to just use a plane and a Symmetry object, but I seem to be having trouble. Whenever I add the plane (that I have converted into a polygon object) to the symmetry object I get this extra continuous piece of geometry that appears, and I can't figure out why. Here is a picture of a before and after of me putting the plane into the symmetry object : http://i.imgur.com/cuZYQ.jpg Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it? Or am I doing something terribly wrong and there might be an easier way to create this ribbon banner effect? My goal is to create the banner and animate it sweeping on and then off again from the right side to the left. Any tips and tricks in creating this effect would be greatly appreciated. Hope someone can help, Harry
  3. Hi folks, my name is Nak. I'm a junior motion designer in NYC. Recently, I built a blog for an experiment. I mainly use after effects and cinema 4d. Sometime I just follow a tutorial or create something inspired from a video or an image. Everything I create is shared. So feel free to use them. I've just started but I'm gonna update my blog as much as possible. http://spatula.tv/blog Any comment is very welcome!
  4. Hey guys & gals, Have any of you used any online render farms? I have a large project that might need some render help. Possibly just over 5000 frames using Cinema 4D. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had good or bad experiences. Cheers Peter Quinn http://peedy.tv/showreel
  5. Hey all, Been a while since I've posted here. I'm curious if anyone has had an issue with the new Physical Renderer in v13 of Cinema 4D. Here are a couple comparison frames: STANDARD render: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/c4d/stand.JPG PHYSICAL render: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/c4d/phys.JPG I'm using the basic settings + the indirect illumination for the phys. renderer: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/c4d/c4dphys-settings.JPG You'll notice the following issues: 1) The cap on the sweeps NURBS is offset 2) The material on the globe is incomplete and jagged I thought it might be an problem that I'm running my apps off an SSD drive (an OWC Mercury Extreme Pro). I tried it on the built in hard drive and got the same result. Anyone else have a similar issue or advice on how to better work with the physical renderer?

  8. Hey guys, I was working in Cinema and it was all goin great, I save and grab dinner. When I re-open the project all my mograph effectors are spazing out, ignoring effectors and displacing geometry in a weird way (it's screwed up the backups too). But when I duplicate the objects they work just fine, ... but everytime I open the project I have to re-do this stupid process. Has anyone seen this issue before and/or have any advice Thanks in advance ~Florio
  9. Don’t be limited by the Convex, Linear, and Engraved Filet Cap edges in MoType anymore. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to use a different fast and easy method to unlock more potential in your text designs in Cinema 4D. http://eyedesyn.com/...t-edge-effects/
  10. Hey there, I'm relatively new to the site - I believe this is the correct place for this topic, but if not, let me know... I was wondering if you could offer any advice or pointers on where I might be going wrong here - my brain just cannot seem to function at the moment, and this problem is really bugging me - it feels like it should have a simple answer... I've been playing with the idea of a video wall / cube, and have attempted to apply video clips to portions of text. In my previous tests, simply applying a rigid body tag would make the portions fly apart due to the fact they are already so close together as a built portion of text (almost like a shatter, but very chunky and blocky) presenting the video clips as the chunks spin and twirl into the air. However, I'd ideally like more control over this - In my test scene file, this happens on the first frame - I'd like to delay the effect (collision / shatter?) as well as be able to have some sort of degree of force or power with which the chunks would be flung apart from each other. I've attempted to play with Explosion FX, Explosion and Shatter - all seem to produce shattered 'flakes' and not let me force blow apart the chunks I've already created (unless I'm poking around in the wrong places) I've also tried to see if Particle Affectors have any use here - and can't seem to get the desired effect. I've linked to a very small sample clip from an earlier test render - hopefully so you see the idea that I'm trying to describe: http://vimeo.com/34889831 the password is: forcetest (For some reason I'm unable to see an option for attachments on Mograph.net) I'd be very grateful if you'd be able to at least point me in the right direction or offer any ideas that you'd have to help me along, Kind regards,
  11. Hey Guys, I've got a new 99 second reel for 2012*, and I'd love your feedback. Getting some nice feedback. peedy.tv/showreel Cheers

  14. Hi everyone, It has been far too long since I've posted anything on Mograph.net - perhaps I've been using Twitter too much! Anyway, I'll get to the point; I'd like to share the tutorials I've created for Cinema 4D and After Effects: Subscribe to the tutorials channel - vimeo.com/channels/imcalledandytuts I'm going to be adding tutorials: a) When I find something interesting and useful to share When I have enough time to create a polished tutorial Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions please get in touch! Cheers, Andy @imcalledandy
  15. Hey guys, Andrew Kramer did this tutorial where a glass orb shatters. Pretty nice. http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2011/11/new-tutorial-epic-shatter/ He generates particles from fractured geometry in 3DS Max. Anyone got a clue (I bet there´s a bunch of you ) how to create that within Cinema 4D with, for example Thrausi and TP? Xpresso screenshots and a basic explanation would be much appreciated!! Thanks a million. / Nick
  16. Hello to all. This is my first tutorial. In this tutorial I will show you how to create a very detailed Christmas Tree from scratch in Cinema 4D. Here is the link: http://vimeo.com/33099458 This is my gift for holidays, hope you will like it.
  17. Hey All, Question regarding mograph. Here is the commercial I will be referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKmjeN9NZRQ Specifically like :11, :19 How would you go about getting a mograph object to do something similar with the wrap of the polygons? Thanks for all suggestions I was bored and playing around and could not figure it out Chad cmzerodesign.com
  18. Hey Everyone, Just trying to collect some info/experience/tips on using motion control data with Cinema 4D. We will be using a Milo and I want to make sure I give the operator all the info they need and I get what I need off of them... Any info will help....thanks in advance!
  19. I am using Mograph Object cloner to clone many thin slices in Radial mode. I need all the slices to be really close to each other 3/4 of the way around than start to get farther and farther from each other in the last 1/4th of the shape. It basically needs to be a fan shape where the clones are tighter on one side and farther away on the other. Than ones that is set up i need to be able to spin the Clones around so that they expand and contract as they go through the fanned out section. I can almost get what i'm looking for but I am unable to spin the cloner. I have tried Target Effector set to invert, Planner Effector ect. If someone has any idea of a way to make this work please help.
  20. October 31, 2011 NEW EXCHANGE PLUG-IN FOR CINEMA 4D AND ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS The new plug-in for Adobe® After Effects® CS5 and CS5.5 allows motion graphics artists to export projects directly into CINEMA 4D R13. MAXON, the leading developer of professional 3D modeling, painting, animation and rendering solutions, today announced immediate availability of a new plug-in for Adobe® After Effects® CS5 and CS5.5 that allows motion graphics artists to export projects directly into CINEMA 4D R13. This new capability broadens CINEMA 4D’s domination as the industry-leading 3D motion graphics toolkit, known for its seamless connectivity to popular 2D motion graphics and compositing tools. This new plugin is the perfect companion to the CINEMA 4D composition import already widely used by broadcast designers worldwide. With the combination of these two plugins, motion graphics artists working on Windows and Mac OS X will enjoy easy data exchange to and from both applications. The CINEMA 4D export appears directly in the After Effects export menu and generates a .c4d file containing 3D layers, cameras, lights, solids, nulls and footage. Even nested compositions are supported. All major layer attributes including animations (rotation, position, parameter, anchor points, POI, etc.), expressions, layer parenting, layer locking and layer visibility are retained. Render and document settings in CINEMA 4D are adapted accordingly to the After Effects’ project settings. “The After Effects-CINEMA 4D workflow is the proven choice for top motion design studios worldwide seeking to easily integrate their 3D and 2D workflows.” commented Harald Schneider, managing partner and CTO at MAXON. “We are pleased to offer our customers this new After Effects export plugin so they can benefit by the increased speed, efficiency and tight integration between these two powerhouse software packages.” “CINEMA 4D is a 3D package After Effects users have already come to know and love because of its seamless integration into After Effects,” said Steve Forde, product manager for Adobe After Effects. “The ability to bring assets the other direction as well will certainly enhance productivity and further solidify CINEMA 4D as an ideal 3D solution for motion graphics artists.” Pricing and Availability The new CINEMA 4D R13 exchange plug-in compatible with Adobe After Effects CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS5.5 is immediately available as a free download. http://www.maxon.net...er-effects.html
  21. Hey guys! I'm looking for some online community support ;-) I created this Cinema 4D Camera Mapping movie to win a place in the Fjällräven Polar 2012, a 310Km dogsledding adventure in the Northern parts of Sweden and Norway… If you have a spare minute, please vote for me to make this dream come true @ http://www.fjallraven.com/outdoor-life/polar/competition/entries/entry/?uid=930 I used pictures from my trip to the northern parts of Sweden to create this application-video for the contest. Thanks in advance! Michiel PS: Facebook will ask for access to you account, don't worry though, they won't use it. It's only to make sure you're real!
  22. hi all, i've been trying to model this pipe bend with little success but was wondering if anyone had any ideas/direction other than what i did. i ended up using a cylinder, making it editable, bending it, then extruding the polygons and dropping it in a hypernurb. as you can see it's close but not quite right. it's not curved enough; the extrude is too sharp on the edges. if anyone can think of a different method or direction i can go on i'd love to hear it. oh, cinema4d is the program used. thanks!
  23. Hi guyz, Here is our new web/motion reel. Enjoy! ++ http://1md.be/showreel2011
  24. So I had this idea that the CS tools Mo-cam rig might be a great basis for some camera projection as it's effectively a series of cameras that guide the path of one 'master camera'... http://www.peedy.tv/moprojection/ *Project files available for download (c4d r13) too* As discussed on the linked page, I was having trouble with fixing the texture to geometry within the cloner object... I'm not even sure if it's possible. Anyway - I got some great tips from some of you guys last time I posted, so le me know if you're aware of a solution.
