  1. Hello everyone, I've been trying to create an animation of shapes stacking up and balancing on top of each other for a couple days now, but I just can't get it to work. I've tried Newton and somewhat tried to keyframe it, but I have no clue on how to do it. Does anyone know how I should go about this? An example of what I'm trying to create (at around 00:25):

  3. Hi there! I'm looking for a creative, professional, smart AE freelancer, preferably with their own gear. We're making a series of TVC's in a very wacky Tim & Eric style, so roles will include a lot of greenscreening, puppet tooling, particle effects, lens-flares, a bit of roto, and potentially a bit of vector / cel animation. We'd like to start with a 5 day booking with possibility to extend to 10 days, starting on April 10. Rate is negotiable but this is fully paid. Strong compositing background a plus. Our studio is in Hackney, London. Please email your reels to master, at, battlecatstudios, dot, com ! Thanks in advance AE 4 LIFE

  7. I expect, like a lot of you guys, you watch a lot of reels and other mograph pieces. I usually sit and watch a few things on Animade or Squeezeme.tv with my first coffee, every morning when I get into work. I've pulled out a few 'showreel tropes' that hopefully some of you will agree with - and I bet there are plenty I've forgotten about... would love to have you input as to commonalities in reels. It's been an interesting study coming up with this shortlist. Cheers guys (hope I've got the right forum)

  10. Hi guys, So i have a shape layer with an animated position copied and pasted from a path. This is preComped and looped forever. This preComp is also preComped again within a master comp. I want to take the position of the original shape layer and apply it to a null (that is in the master) so that is at the current position that the shape layer is at the current time within the master comp. How can i do this please? N.B. This isn't as simple as just pickwhipping the layers position because of the time remap/ layer starting at a time other than zero in the main comp, there needs to be an offset. I found something that is pretty much the reverse of what i need from Dan Ebberts on the Cow for doing something similar but linking to a slider but can't figure out how to reverse it for this purpose. offset = comp("main comp").layer(thisComp.name).startTime; comp("main comp").layer("controls").effect("Angle Control")("Angle").valueAtTime(time + offset);

    Infographic WIP

    Hey, I've missed this place. Almost forget it existed for the past couple of years. Working on this animated infographic about facts of visual communication. Wanted some fresh eyes. There are still a few errors in there that need ironing out. Tight deadlines mean this has already been sent out so want to give my eyes a few weeks off before I come back to it. Main priority is to redo the end line to try to make it as interesting as the rest. I am questioning the readability so thoughts on that would be good. https://vimeo.com/75402885 Password: info All comments welcome. Cheers, Chris

    WIP - First Reel

    https://vimeo.com/62522404 This is an early draft of my first reel. Most of it is made up of loops i use for projections to music because thats most of what I have been making. I have some more commercial-like pieces that I might add to create some diversity. At any rate, I'd like to hear what you think about it. Any glaring mis-steps, anything you're missing from it that I should work on making. Thanks!
  13. Anybody know the difference in the speed and influence values in the keyframe velocity option of easing? I've always only changed the influence of the ease and got the results I needed, but any ideas on what the speed does or could do?

  15. Marc Pearson - Motion Design Reel 2012 https://vimeo.com/44688380 It is long overdue, and I am sure that there is more that I will want to add to it in the future, but hot off the render is my 2012 Demo Reel! All of the work seen here was done by me using a combination of Adobe Premiere, Adobe AfterEffects and Cinema 4D. Two of the pieces, the NASDAQ video board and the Reuters video board, won Telly Awards in 2011 and ran for two weeks live in Times Square. Some of the work seen in this reel was done by me for Realpage, a software development company based in Carrollton, Texas. I currently work full-time for them as Senior Mulimedia Video Developer. The remaining work was done for my productions company, Footprint Productions. I hope you enjoy the reel and I welcome feedback, comments and critique. Thanks again for watching and expect much more from me in the future! If you would like to see these and other examples of my work, visit my website at http://www.footprint-productions.com or my portfolio at http://www.marc-pearson.com/portfolio.

  19. HI I am currently making a film - and have a section in the middle that is based on a video game - like an endless Runner. It's sort of Mario like or maybe more like Canabalt or It is a video, but needs to feel video game like. My Scene is 17 seconds long and has to fit a certain amount of things in to make the narrative make sense. I am currently blocking in the action - and don't know the best way to get a decent scroll look. I am going to try a master scroll null (possibly parented to a slider control). I might also try using he offset effect. does anyone have any wisdom on this? it would help me process. I am very short on time, - any tips very much appreciated
