    A Student's Quick Mographs

So I've created four mographs so far, I intend on making a series of quick things with the goal of getting used to the mechanics of rigging characters and just allow myself to experiment and play more. The flamingo mograph I looked at how to work with water in animations as well as the shading styles. I was also aware of the graphic design aspect of it. The odd 'death deer creature' is just a play on creating strange fictional characters (plus I've been aching to make something with antlers and a globe), i used the noise shading again because i had SO MUCH fun with it, but i also added some photoshop textures in the back. In the deer's behavior i looked at how i can communicate an easily startled, cautious creature who then calms down realising there is no threat. The Giraffe was an experiment of an effect I've been using a lot lately and I was simply curious to see what it would look like to have some kind of effect over a moving character. The fish was simply my first attempt at cell animation. I'd love some feedback as the main goal of this series is just to improve on something with each mograph, I'm also open to suggestions.

  8. Hey everyone, I'm creating this post to reach out to the wider mograph / cg community about a few courses I'll be teaching at the Blender Institute. These are aimed at experienced users of either Cinema 4D or 3ds Max, as a crash course primer for getting into Blender. As some of you may know the devs over at the Blender Institute are hard at work on a new version that packs a lot of interesting features, making it interesting for all kinds of users. I switched over to Blender a number of years ago as a freelancer and have had a blast exploring it and building my pipeline around it. Here's my work as an example of what I've been doing with it: mantissa.xyz That being said, I'm not aiming to convert people or anything, but if you're interested in adding it to your workflow or are looking to switch, these intensive courses are tailored exactly to that. There's a maximum class size of 10 people and everything is held over at the new Blender HQ in Amsterdam in the coming months. Depending on the popularity of the courses, they're very open to hosting more courses in the future, as well as new ideas for ones that people want to see. Each crash course is one week, and is designed to cover as much of the relevant Blender pipeline as possible. The C4D users one is aimed a bit more at mograph, and the 3ds Max one is aimed more towards generalists. I've made sure each one has ample time included to answer everyone's questions so you don't feel like you've missed something when all is said and done. The cost is 1600 EUR (ex. Tax), which I understand isn't cheap, but a large chunk of that goes to the Blender Institute itself as development funds. That means you'll also get a chance to talk to different developers on location and get a feel for how Blender is being made and who the people are behind it. I've been teaching close to 10 years now on top of working for various studios and artists in a multitude of different sectors, with a general love for the industry and am really excited about getting more professionals in to the ever-growing Blender community. Here's the pages for the different courses: Blender for C4D artists Blender for 3ds Max artists I'll also be keeping an eye on this thread, so if you have any questions or comments, I'd be happy to provide more info and answers.

    unreal engine plugin for mograph

Hi, Thought I would share some of my videos showing early development of a mograph plugin for Unreal Engine. I think it's interesting because it would allow for realtime, interactive motion graphics. https://vimeo.com/user15336309 Cheers/
  10. Figured I'd post some of the new stuff up here! Mograph specific videos at the top, more generic (but still useful for mograph, promise!) videos at the bottom. Changing mograph materials: Beginner video on how to do 3D logos Using the take system to make multiple versions of a project for picky clients: And lastly how to set C4D up to work faster and be less annoying:
  11. Another AE / Trapcode animation. I'll be doing a bunch of these quick projects, so sorry for the spam in advance.
  12. So I'm a big fan of Discord, using it for all sorts but I looked around and strangely enough couldn't find a MoGraph specific server. So as the guy behind Cinema 4D MoGraph as well as a motion graphics freelancer myself I figured I should, well, you know, sort of make the effort, here's the link to anyone interested in joining : https://discord.gg/X8ue7F

  14. Hi there, I've got some drum sticks going. Each drum stick is effected by it's own Sound Effector. Both drumsticks are Rigid Bodies. each has a Vibrate tag on it slightly offsetting the position. Both drum-sticks are in a null which has it's position co-ordinates key-framed. My problem is ..when I cache from the Rigid Body tag or the 'Bake' in the project settings...the simulation simply turns OFF - there is nothing moving. I have tried putting each drum stick into a Cloner and Fracture and then using the Mograph Cache Tag...however this yields the same result. I've also tried changing the Deformer setting to Object and also tried the Point Cache method, none of which has worked. Any ideas why the Sound Effector does not bake when in conjunction with dynamics?? Pathways such as Sound Keys aren't of use because you still have to cache at the end. many thanks for reading

  23. hi, i have this pre animated, PLA baked radio waves. so the clones are all set on 0,0,0. then a step effector offsets the animatin and so the radio waves do their thing. so far so good now ... when a wave hits another object it should change its color. i was playing around with the collision detection node but whatever i did i couldnt get it to work. i saw some stuff with real dynamic collisions but i only need a collision event. any clues? any clues? thx flow

    Connector Falloff

Hi I have kind of a weird solve... I'm running a Plain Effector through a sphere to effect the scale of the faces. The problem was in order to do so I needed to disconnect the face of the sphere to get the result I wanted causing the edges of the face to remain hard or faceted. When I put it in a connect object it will give me the connection I need but remove the Plain Effector effect. I was wondering if there was a way to reconnect the vertices of the object outside of the effector radius? Essentially It would be nice to create a custom connect object that has a fall off... I don't know if that is even achievable? But any suggestions or way to set something up would be helpful. Thanks,
