  6. Hi there. I have a porblem with some footage, the client filmed in Red cam 5K , 5120X2700 which is a 1.9:1 aspect ratio I think, and when they pass me the footage proxies they convert the 5120X2700 1.9:1 aspect ratio to a 1920x1080 16:9, so the proxies have a black letter box. :S The final video needs to be 16:9 without letter boxes, the question is WHATS THE EXACT % OF SCALE I need to add in AE to eliminate those letter boxes? Thank you very much!!
  7. Hey guys, I've got a question about compression software for video. I wanted to ask what is recommended as a video compressor these days. I use Quicktime Pro's built in feature for making x.264 videos, but find it slow and not always that great at handling gradients, even with grain applied before hand. I have recently started using Adobe Media Encoder, and feel that it has the best options and results thus far. I know there are options out there that cost lots of money, but wanted to see what the mass majority use. Thanks! Steve

  14. the place i work makes interactive ipad apps. some of the apps have videos embedded in them (3d charts, 3d animations) that look like they are part of the layout (they don't have any player window surrounding them, you can just tap the chart and the video plays). all of these videos were created for the resolution of the ipad and ipad2. we are now converting them for the ipad3. my question. do i have to do anything to the videos for them to play at higher resolution? double the size of the videos? i know video is only 72dpi so it's kind of a dumb question. any help is greatly appreciated.
  15. Hey there, I'm relatively new to the site - I believe this is the correct place for this topic, but if not, let me know... I was wondering if you could offer any advice or pointers on where I might be going wrong here - my brain just cannot seem to function at the moment, and this problem is really bugging me - it feels like it should have a simple answer... I've been playing with the idea of a video wall / cube, and have attempted to apply video clips to portions of text. In my previous tests, simply applying a rigid body tag would make the portions fly apart due to the fact they are already so close together as a built portion of text (almost like a shatter, but very chunky and blocky) presenting the video clips as the chunks spin and twirl into the air. However, I'd ideally like more control over this - In my test scene file, this happens on the first frame - I'd like to delay the effect (collision / shatter?) as well as be able to have some sort of degree of force or power with which the chunks would be flung apart from each other. I've attempted to play with Explosion FX, Explosion and Shatter - all seem to produce shattered 'flakes' and not let me force blow apart the chunks I've already created (unless I'm poking around in the wrong places) I've also tried to see if Particle Affectors have any use here - and can't seem to get the desired effect. I've linked to a very small sample clip from an earlier test render - hopefully so you see the idea that I'm trying to describe: http://vimeo.com/34889831 the password is: forcetest (For some reason I'm unable to see an option for attachments on Mograph.net) I'd be very grateful if you'd be able to at least point me in the right direction or offer any ideas that you'd have to help me along, Kind regards,
  16. Just finished working on a projection map and decided to go ahead and make a little behind the scenes video about how we put it together.
