2. The Mint Chicks (from New Zeland) 'Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!'

Hear; 'Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!' for a sample then listen to 'Don't Turn Me On Just To Turn On Me' or 'Funeral Day' to understand their diversity:

Another great New Zealand piece of gold, 'Slav To The Rythm' and the title track are both classics.

8. Refused 'The Shape Of Punk To Come'

Yeah I know it's not the "new shit" but it's Swedish, totally genre breaking and deserves way more credit than it gets!

The Knife is my favorite retro electric music ever. But after Silent Shout it's all a little similar. For someone who listens to exactly none of that genre, it's like a Laplander trying to describe the Samba.

Cloud Cult - Chain Reaction

Thank you, I love this CD. It's like a mix between Danielson and Modest Mouse only it sounds better than that description.

I know they're old now...but She Wants Revenge is pretty good. And I like Peaches...even though she's old now too.

I just can't stay abreast of all this crazy music you kids listen to.

I've decided that polka is back in.

check out the album "Writer's block" by peter bjorn and john. The song "young folks" is great, and I think I'm going to use their song "the chills" in my next reel update.

I was suprised by that album. It was pretty good!

Peaches is wonderful. Her last release was great.

Bjork's new album, Volta, is sounding great as well.

There's a lot of really good music by New Order, The Radio Dept., David Bowie, Siouxsie and the Banshees

check out Beirut. hell ya. got some old european vibe going on.

White Flight - some good experimental weird shit.

Black Moth Super Rainbow - Some more instrumental experimental stuff. Great new album.

Califone - awesome acoustic/rocky vibe with some spice.

Hip-Hop:

New Talib is reallly nice. Same with the new Pharaohe Monch. Both highly recommended.

A bit sad but nice voice.

Emily Haines is great, it's all a bit mopey but good background music for working.

Most of the music listed in this thread is pretty rockin/upbeat stuff that gets in my face and makes me lose concentration, so here's some mellower stuff that makes good background work music:

Leafcutter John "The forest and the sea"

Sibylle Baier "Colour Green"

Milosh "You make me feel"

The Dead texan
