Flourishes...

I think it sends the right signal. I can't wait for Adobe to make a button that buys the stock photos, then puts them together for you. What a timesaver!

Not a big fan of stock motion, but sometimes it's nice to not have to reinvent the wheel. And the clowns at Veer want $300 for their clips, where you can get HD joints @ YWFT for $30-70. I'm feelin' it.

Interesting it appears to have been done in 3D rather than 2D with masks and strokes. Maybe using lofts and sweeps are easier to crank it out.

Most certainly.

It would be far easier in 3D. Plus... then you could sell the 3D stock flourishes for $500. ;)

Nice forms and growth, but I'm not really feeling their easing. It's somewhere in the middle.

Like if smooth and linear had a baby.

How about slamming together a fast tutorial for Cinema newbies?

Or at least giving more details. Mograph is kind of vast.

ofcourse! Qucik walkthrough:

1. Make your floral spline in Illustrator.

2. Save an eps file.

3. Load eps file into c4d.

4. Add a cylinder object to the scene

5. Add Spline Wrap from mograph menu and make it a child of the cylinder

6. Drag the eps spline into spline wrap object properties.

7. Crank up the height segments on the cylinder

8. Adjust the Spline Wrap axis until you see the cylinder wrap around the spline nicely. Adjust size of cylinder.

9. Play around with the "to", "size" and "size strength" in the Spline Wrap properties.

10. Do this for all the splines of the flower you imported.

Quite easy. Happy trail Hans!

Care to share the .c4d file? I tend to learn better when tearing off the source file.

I've included mine which have a few issues. Could someone tell what i did wrong?

File

Thanks in advance

I'd like to see the file as well.

I couldn't get the cylinder to work at all, but flat plane did.

Yuki, try the Cow tutorial below and substitute your own ai path for the spline used.

This is way faster in after effects using stroke and Tinderbox Bumpshade for the 3d light effect.

The reason I'd do this particular effect in after effects is that you can work with the vertices,

and select the first vertex.

A problem with doing this in Cinema is that you have to up the

segments hugely to lose aliasing which slows everything way down.

Then you have to putz with lights.

Whatever, this stuff isn't simple unless you have your elements reduced to simple illustrator files.

Hey Jeanh,

I know this tutorial, and i know how to make this effect in C4D. I would like to know how to get the same effect as elpatron did.

Your cylinder height segment was only 8 .. try setting it to at least 360 .. that'll smooth out some of it.
