laughingcolors 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 on the mac... it works fine in AE but Quicktime Pro doesn't recognize the codec when i open it in the standalone player ( though it plays fine in AE ) any ideas on what i did wrong? thanx
deepsky 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2007 Merridian is a free codec by Avid, Quicktime does not offer this with the player. So every computer that will view or render a Quicktime with Merridian compression will have to download and drop the codec into either the Shared Quicktime folder or Windows System 32 folder. prupert 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 Hah! I scan read this and saw it as Avid Merrion codec - as in the crazy carrot top neck brace nutter from the UK's Channel 4 show Bo Selcta http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/m...s/B/bo_selecta/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leigh_Francis "Why's he got a codec?" I wondered, does it add plastic face masks to all your characters and give it a little shamone, mutha f*cker..oww! Hmm, sadly not - the search continues

parallax 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 note: to get it to work i had to say in info for qucktime, open with rosetta WTF dude, are you running the avid codec on an Intel Mac?
laughingcolors 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 yes
parallax 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 That's weird. You can edit your footage in FCP, for instance? I've never read this before, the AVID codec not being Intel native and all.
deepsky 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 Good to know. Thanks for sharing that.
laughingcolors 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2007 I also had to manually update it in the info of quicktime. haven't tried it in FCP yet. it doesnt work in FCP yet though
graymachine 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2007 For the sake of posterity and searching, I just wanted to post the words: Avid Meridien so those can find this thread in the future. I don't know where Avid got the spelling, but that's how it is.
