WMV into AE?

Recommended Posts

anyone have any super smart-ass megastar techniques for getting around AE's apparent inability to import a .WMV? I've got choice footage available only in that format. I WILL make rock history, despite you, Microsoft!!!

Are you on a Mac? If so, are you running Flip4Mac? I use it at work because our workflow requires I kick out a lot of WMVs...but to be honest I have yet to try to import one with AE. Since it runs them through Quicktime it's a possibility.

If you're using Windows...well, crap. Maybe the free Windows Media Encoder can turn it into something else for ya. Again, that's something I've never tried.

Just trying to throw out any ideas I might have in the hopes that one might help you.

.WMV is meant to be a delivery format, not a production format, so you're almost always better converting to something that's intended to be used in production (preferably a lossless format).
