nextexit 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Hey guys.....I don't know if you're up for it, but Sao almost started a type thread/resource here.....but it died. I think it'd be cool to start one up as I know I'm not alone in saying that type just generally freaks me out. So if you have any advice, links, tips, good type examples (graphic and motion), questions etc etc then post them here.....if yah want Cheers M :H

nextexit 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2007 Get a hold of the typographic bible; The Elements of Typographic Style It's aimed at design for print but the rules are all there. Sometimes the book gets pretty heavy but it's well worth wading through it to get to the gold.... There's also this little gem: The Elements of Typographic Style for the Web Kinda self explanatory....maybe helpful for you guys that dabble a little in the intewebs M

Guest Sao_Bento Report post Posted August 26, 2007 This guy's a bit of a type fascist but he knows his shit......the rest of his site's a good read as well. Five simple steps to better typography: M Interesting that this one references Capoeira (even though his translation of the word is wrong). He draws a parallel between Capoeira's "make a pattern, break a pattern" structuralism and typographic rhythm. The downside is that if you don't understand Capoeira, you're not really going to get the full meaning.
Guest Sao_Bento Report post Posted August 26, 2007 This is a site dedicated to "open source design education". It's mostly links to books you can buy on Amazon or order at the library, but it's still pretty nice. http://thinkingforaliving.org/resources/typography.html
