? How do I simulate 1950s look in After Effects (tastefully)!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need a magician of sorts... what is available for me to simulate a 1950/1960s look.

I'd considered projections however i think the 'missing film gate' is too much.

:H always

What about it? Technicolor look? Home movie 8mm look? B&W science films? If you want a detailed answer you need a detailed question.

if you are looking for film damage, you could use some real clips of film grain and scratches in multiply or add mode. You could look for old footage at a place like Getty images, download a sample clip of old marilyn monroe footage - then use the AE tracker to track the frame movement. Apply that x,y tracking data to a solid - then make your footage a child of that solid. This would give it that super crappy slipping gate/horribly hand held vibe that you are probably looking for.

or, you could just use a plugin.
