MoGraph Chicago

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to give an FYI here:

Tonight there is a Women In Film (chicago) kick off party at Resolution Digital Studios. You do not have to be a chick to go.

Those that want to network and see RDS's facilities should definetly go.

There is of course the mgfest events happing this week.

I believe that WIF has a deal for the mgfest/wif parties.

I'm certainly going to try to make it, didn't get to last year.

I don't think they had one here in '08...did they?

I think the last one was in Oct of '07

I couldn't be more excited about this year...Motion AND 3D :H :D :H

Hellz ya. Got free tickets via ventilate.ca so I'll definitely be stopping by. Too bad it takes like 30 minutes to get a beer there, but I think they were super cheap...

sorry for this thread hijack, but can anybody talk about the freelancer scene in chicago? do most places seem to have a need for freelancers? or are you freelancers out there having a tough time getting bookings?

im in a permalance situation that is sort of stagnating and i want to change it up to become a more project-based freelancer, but nervous to do it in this economy without many contacts. i did the math and realized if i booked 2 out of 4 weeks a month, i could survive. but i just don't know how realistic that is, so any help is much appreciated.

oh yeah, and in case it matters, im a mid-level designer/animator with a few years experience and beginner/intermediate 3d skills. i think ive got the skills, just not the contacts.

Hey everyone.

this is a great thread... I just got here to Chicago and wanted to send out a hello, introduce myself to the group. Seems like theres a good amount of stuff going on here so maybe when money comes in I can come out to some of these events/get-togethers and meet some of you guys in person. Theres definitely a lot of really impressive working coming out of here.
