Adolfo Rozenfeld 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 how envy i am, here in argentina those chips are around 360 bucks, not even mention the difference between a dollar and argentinian money.god damn it south america! That difference has been steadily eaten by an inflation of about 20-30 per cent a year, with the exchange rate pretty much locked for years... From 2002 onwards, you can do the math. u$s 360 is probably less than half of what is was back then.

lumaform 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 congrats on you new Quad. I'll be joining you once I get the rest of my hardware. I'll be shooting for 3.6 or even 3.8Ghz.
monovich 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 people are pushing them that high? I thought I was getting greedy at 3.2... I've got a massive Zahlman fan on it, maybe I can go higher. I'll try when this project wraps.
movibe 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I think Q6600 @ 3.2G would be a optimum point for a production machine. To shoot it up to 3.6G or higher would generate more heat (not a good think for me as I am living in the hotter side of the globe). The practical speed gain would start plateau out before that point anyway.
