JohnMcLay 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 We're Out is a short promotional tricking film made by myself, John McLay. Use this link for a LQ version - DOWNLOADABLE SUPER HQ (Recommended) VERSION - Downloadable Version via Divshare "Tricking (Martial Arts Tricking) is the informal name of a relatively new underground alternative sport movement, combining martial arts, gymnastics, breakdancing and other activities to create an "aesthetic blend of flips, kicks, and twists." Entitled "We're out" (which was selected for it's ambiguity) was shot in under 2 hours during a session on March 12 for the purpose of creating a short video to showcase a small taste of what tricking is like for us in Brisbane (and also motivate, inspire and enthuse anyone interested in tricking/acrobatics). It was also a personal project to hone and furthur my editing skills. The time taken to edit was 5 full days using photoshop, illustator and after effects. I hope you all enjoy! Background Track - 'Buy American Machines' - Emanuel. (Needless to say the volume should be cranked ) Running Time - 1:50 Performers - Scott Skelton, Henrik Horwing, Dave Wilson, John McLay. Guest Sao_Bento Report post Posted April 12, 2008 Not bad. At times it reminds me of Jet Li films where they edit stuff when they shouldn't. If you have someone who has extraordinary physical ability, you don't need to dress it up to make it interesting, just turn the camera on and let them do their thing. I don't think the scenes that are all "paint" except for a small hole around the performers are adding anything, they're just obscuring the real talent at work. The pacing and the music worked pretty well though. It was starting to get repetitive towards the end.
