Adobe eliminates 600 jobs

Recommended Posts

"Adobe on Wednesday announced plans to cut approximately 600 full-time jobs in response to less-than-anticipated earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter of 2008.

In its preliminary financial results, Adobe said demand for its Creative Suite 4 products was weaker than expected, and suggested the economy was a factor in the company's revenue shortfall. "

The economy, or the fact that CS4 SUCKS?

The fact they charge well over double in Europe as the US in the middle of a recession for the exactly the same product?

As anyone who has ever been involved in a redundancy round will undoubtedly agree, this is pretty awful for the people involved, even those in 'customer services'. It's the ordinary working folk I feel for most.

I am pretty impressed with CS4 as a product actually. I think it may be a failure of management on Adobe's part. They dominate the market yet are unable to make the numbers work. It's pretty sad.

CS4 upgrade is a big chunk of money in current conditions, at UK prices - the main productivity benefit would be the bundled Mocha, which isn't even an Adobe product, which is a bit sad.

I reckon I am going to wait for the inevitable discounts...
