Carey 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 Hi. And welcome! I think first maybe you need to figure out why you'd want a reel. And be specific about it. Are you looking for a job? What kind of job? What is an employer looking for that you can offer, and how can you best demonstrate that value to him/her? You have four small clips to show: two vfx shots, a self-branding piece, and a logo animation. Can you cut an interesting montage with 4 pieces? Can any of those pieces stand on their own? Are you jumping the gun? Do you have time to do some more projects so that you can pick and choose between them when you create your eventual presentation? Obviously I'm guiding you to some answers here, but seriously ask yourself the questions so that you know what you're really hoping to accomplish. If you jump in the lake without knowing where you're going, you're just going to be treading water.
emilypants 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 I'd definitely say it's going to be a stretch to put a good reel together with such short work...the opening is so nice it almost outshines your other stuff. I'd say if you don't have time to invest in a whole bunch of other projects since you're trying to get a job/meet a personal deadline, try doing some experiments & putting them in. If you do have time, I'd make more work and focus on combining it into what you already have. Your work is well done, just need more to create a filling reel. Good luck, can't wait to see more!
