Requesting 3D files for use in Cinema4D

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

What's the best (most compatible) format to use in Cinema 4D exported from another 3D package? Wavefront OBJ?

We're getting some models supplied – not sure what they've created them in yet but want to make sure it shows up alright in C4D

FBX is still the best, IMO.

If you go with FBX make sure to test the different flavours. Unfortunately AD is changing the FBX fileformat/SDK all the time and often enough they are incompatible between one another. Other than that FBX is a good candidate.

FBX used to be wonky way back when, and then it got much better 2 years ago, and now the 2010 is the best yet.

You can't bring in bones, or cameras, or animation with OBJ or any other format that I know of.
