Jeff McBride 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2010 So in order to run two Apple Cinema Displays on a Mac you need two graphics cards. I'm wondering if there are any pros or cons to having two cards. Does one card drive all the graphics processing plus its display and the other only drives its display or do they work in tandem and effectively double GPU power? Or might it create any conflicts with certain apps (AE, C4D, FCP, PS, etc.)? Anyone out there with experience/knowledge on the subject? Thanks!
vozzz 2 Report post Posted May 3, 2010 on windows it aparantly makes the c4d viewport slower. by cinema displays are you talking about 30" ones? because i think anything less should run of one video card quite easily.
Jeff McBride 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2010 Talking about the 24s. The problem is that they've only got a MiniDisplay connector and near as I can tell there's not a Female Minidisplay to Male DVI adapter (otherwise I'd just run it on one card). How about a mini-display port to DVI adaptor? http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY $30.
Jeff McBride 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 Yeah, that's the wrong direction. Need a Female Mini Display to a Male DVI which they don't make.
