How can I learn more about sports motion graphics?

I am interested in learning more about the splashy graphics used in sports programs. Sometimes I find myself looking at the motion work more than the actual game itself. Can anyone give me some advice on where to get started?

Ribbons, extruded shiny 3d text, lens flares, cheap stock music?

I guess you just have to look at a bunch of this type of work. The Famous Group has done quite a bit of this sort of thing. You can also check out ANC Sports' reel. I'm sure there are some other studios who do this sort of stuff, but I can't think of any others at the moment.

Did you guys really forget about Reality Check? They are the best in the business when it comes to live sports graphics. They are their VizRT work is amazing. CBS Sports, ESPN, NFL network... you name it they do it all. Also Fox Sports just went to VizRT.

 

Also Big Machine Designdid some great NFL Network stuff.
