I'm back with a better site! :D

Recommended Posts

I am getting a lot of hits on my site.

So do porn sites

I can be really harsh right now and tell you you're worthless, but I'll leave that up to the shittier parts of life when you realize it yourself.

I want to see you in 5 years. If you still have this attitude and haven't improved at all, then you must be a real life troll.

Fine then, just tell me i need more content without dropping several f bombs for no reason.. Seriously..

Vulgar words makes you uncomfortable? You'll be dropping the "f" bomb once you start hitting deadlines, trust me.

You DON'T need more content.

It's always about quality rather than quantity.

Once you get to a point where you have lets say 10 pieces of work and only 2 stand out, you will only put those 2 up and think of the other 8 as a learning process.

But what you have now is useless. I just saw your "demo" reel...and I told myself this kid must be on drugs or something.

There are plenty of 17 year olds who make amazing work and now they're 20-21...they're owning the elders because they work their asses off. Day and night. No sleep whatsoever. They're like sponges.

On one hand I love the internet for what it can do, but on another I hate the fact that it can produce people like you. You sound like a total jerk when people here give you advice and it flies over your head. Stop being self deprecating and actually DO something about it by NOT TALKING about it at all. Be an observer and stfu.

As Ian mentioned, the film industry is brutal. They will chew you up and spit you out. Have you ever talked to people who do this for a living? It's NOT easy. Mograph is not easier. The film industry is actually harder to get into than mograph. You have to start from the bottom...in everything. Once you're in the trenches, you will fall. It's a roller coaster ride. You will have to learn to get up again. THIS stuff is not rhetoric at all, it's reality. You will only see what I mean once you're knee deep in this shit.

You can't predict the future, but sure as hell you can build it. So what the hell are you waiting for? If you're THIS excited about your future, then shut the hell up and work your ass off. Don't post anything online. It makes you look like a dick.

I mean really, why are you posting stuff that should only be seen by YOU? Do you even keep up with the stuff that's out there? It doesn't make you think that you suck and you shouldn't be posting these videos? Most of the people on this forum have seen it all. So you can't really wow anyone here with your Andrew Kramer shit.

There are a lot of users here who would love to tear you a new one and haven't replied, partly because they would feel bad about it or they don't care. I am being really nice here. Life hasn't been nice to me at all, so be glad about this one.

And start cussing. It'll make your life easier — even make you "cooler". Watch some George Carlin videos. Widen up your perspective. Life is not "perty".

P.S. if you come back after this and repeat the same shit you've been doing ever since the other thread, then I definitely think you are sick in the head.

Good luck...you'll need lots of it.

I know you guys all think i'm jumping in head first I haven't exactly listed my experience though You guys don't have a good first impression of who I am or what I do. Especially cause your first impression was 5 months ago. Just realize I've worked on films and I know a lot about film, but what I know even more is that there are going to be weeks with 2 hours of sleep a night (if that) there's going to be days I will want to go die from all the stress, but I won't, and theres going to be HUGE issues and I'll have to find work arounds. I also know there are a million and one things I don't know yet, but the way I learn is by watching and doing. I have had a little experience, but Right now is the ideal time to start working on my own little projects to get a taste of how it works. And then in a few years I'll start to work towards the industry, even if that takes 10 years, i know what I have to do to make it and I know that being humble about it and never giving up is one thing thats going to help a lot! I don't want to sound Like I know everything because I am fully aware i know practically nothing about this industry compared to others who have had 6 years of schooling and grew up near this stuff. But I know I can make it and I won't ever let myself give up or get down. Sorry but after all of this, even if you think i'm crazy, your wasting your time replying.. sorry to be rude, but i'm not going to change my mind.

Thanks for the help.

I appreciate the concern, but I would have just liked to know what my content need and what my site lacks.

...even if it takes 10 years I will be working in this industry...

You should expect it to take 10 years at least to be anything more than the coffee guy. In the mean time you should spend your time going to school, getting laid (maybe?) and being your age damnit! There are plenty of years for work. It's fine to do the stuff you're doing for fun on the side, but coming on a professional forum touting your website isn't a good idea, because what your site lacks most of all is experience. No tutorial is going to teach you that.

Okay, thank you. My site lacks experience. I'll have to work on that, but that'll take time obviously.. But thanks for the answer.

Sam,

I think your barking up the wrong tree. Every time you post a message, its like "hey everyone look at me, look at what I want to do with my life, and why I will never stop until I reach the goal that I dream about." Everyone appreciates passion for what they do but it only takes 3 words to say it. ..."I am passionate."... Showing passion, however, is not that easy. To us right now your passion is not focused. Based on what I have read from you and seen from your work. Theres a lot of talking but the results are not backing up the enthusiasm. You are like a Hollywood producer at the moment selling a film that hasn't been produced yet to a bunch of investors.

Right now you are no different than someone that has never got punched in the face. We don't care you know that all of this is going to be tough and it will hurt. We don't care that you will never give up. All of this is a given in our world. We expect that. You are receiving flack because you come off as if you were stating that you are like Rocky Balboa. Rocky was the underdog that spent more time getting punched in the face and taking it, rather than talking about how much he got punched in the face and taking it. Thats why the fictional character got respect. You don't get respect by talking about the road ahead of you.

So keep your blog. Keep your site. Save the monologues for people that are easily impressed (family, uncles, aunties, friends). The Beginners and professionals here want the monologues from people that have already walked the road.

People here want to see results. IE. A actual promo, graphics package, even a visual effect case study (COMPLEX EFFECT mind you) or short film. Not tests from plugins that any novice can do from messing with settings striking lucky gold. If I posted every test I did. I would have more videos then the "FAIL" Channel on youtube.

We don't want you to give up. Just give up on talking about it. Watch a Nike commercial from 90s. The message is simple and to the point and its what everyone here has been trying to tell you from the get go.

JUST DO IT!

COME BACK WHEN YOU'VE DONE IT! <------what most want to add to this simple marketing message.

Okay.. I see where your coming from.. I did come at this with a bad approach and made a crappy name for myself here.. I'm gonna take a break from mograph for a while.. stick to regular chat on the other forum (video copilots) and Go easy with my blog.. not take it down.. but focus on creating content.. I thought a lot about it and I have better content, but none of it is good enough yet.. So thats what I need to do. So grabbing my camera and after effects is my plan before blogging about all my 'good ideas'.. Does this seem better? Sorry about seeming so stubborn.. I guess its hard for me to accept new things sometimes.. I do know you guys are all trying to help though..

Video Copilot is good for introducing yourself to After Effects, but don't consume yourself with nothing but VCP. Everyone can easily call out anything that was derived from one of his tutorials.

Use his tutorials as a way to learn the program, not the effect.

Hyp3.. Why'd you take my picture?

Umm... because it's funny. You have either got the be the thickest dude on the entire internet or you're just having a real good time fucking with everybody on this message board. Or you're actually Ze Brownie. I can't believe this thread has gone 3 pages already. Of course now I'm commenting too, so maybe I'm the asshole...
