saifsohailkhan 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 I wanted to ask if there was another way to bend the object other than bend deformer. I am having a problem where i want a rectangle that is curled up to uncurl in segments rather than a whole. Does anyone have any advice? Like if a rolled up piece of paper starts to uncurl soon as it gets out the tube.

thekinginyellow 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 i was recently faced with a similar situation and found the following links that proved to be very beneficial in setting up the project. on maxon's page there used to be a news story with some rolling paper news called "Tearing Things Up with Cinema 4D". it's no longer there but it is stilled cached (minus images) with google but the images were the best part because it showed some of the c4d set up that robert hranitzky did for genarts. anyway, long story short, if you DO want to use the bend deformer you could and still achieve the rolled paper look. http://www.hranitzky.com/work/genarts.php (you can see the video on his portfolio page) i just found the pics in google image search (get them before they're gone forever): http://www.maxon.net/uploads/pics/C4D_01.png http://www.maxon.net/uploads/pics/C4D_02.png http://www.maxon.net/uploads/pics/C4D_03.png this tut might give you some more insight on how to set up the deformer. basically if you want a tube and for it to unrolljust reverse the start and end of the deformer. there's also source files to download so you dont really have to do any/much leg work: http://sketchypictures.com/tutorials/cinema_4d_tutorials/red_carpet/red_carpet.html
saifsohailkhan 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 http://www.vimeo.com/12471575 and check out the follow up video. This is really helpful. Thank you for pointing this out. Next step is to bend two ends of a rectangle with two separate joint structure so the front end bends before the back end. Any thoughts?
saifsohailkhan 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) I found something really cool out for a solution for me. I had to play with one setting in Mesh Deformer. So in a way i used two bend deformers on one object Screenshot below Edited August 11, 2011 by saifsohailkhan
