C4D won't launch (R12, OS X)

Recommended Posts

I've read all the tech support docs I could find related to this issue, but alas, I am at a loss.

The scenario

I'm on a Mac Pro (2x2.66 Ghz Dual Core Xeon, 16gb RAM, OS X 10.5.8), and when I try to launch C4D R12, the icon pops in the doc, sits there for about 5 seconds and then goes away. No dialog box, no "light" under the icon in the doc, nothing.

The IT department reinstalled C4D. No go. They reinstalled OS X and then reinstalled C4D. Nothing. They deleted prefs, updated prebinding and logged in as a different user. Nothing.

The plot thickens?...

I have a hunch, but I don't really know how to test it. A few days ago, I was getting an error message when launching Final Cut Pro. I can't remember the error, but I was able to Google it and solve the problem by disabling secondary monitor output via my BlackMagic DeckLink preferences.

I'm wondering if something similar is happening with C4D. The trouble is, the IT team upgraded the DeckLink software and I can see no clear option that would be the same as the old "disable" checkbox I used before. Here's the new prefs screen:

I've tried physically disconnecting the cables from the BlackMagic card, but that didn't work.

Help? Any ideas?

Thanks all!
