daveglanz 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 I'm sure this question has been asked, and my search hasn't given me the best results...has anyone found a good way to create a fairly realistic tornado in C4D? I need to get one going, and would even buy one if there was a site out there selling presets. I"ve tried Maxon's old Tornado tut, but I"m having trouble getting that looking as good as I'd like. daveglanz 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 I'd like to get something close to these looks: http://lab.visual-logic.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/tornado_particle-flow.jpg http://www.modernmayhem.com/images/pw_tornado_still.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-P2Ul_wu4n4o/TYdpxEzLurI/AAAAAAAAAcw/WFIdTy_DUk8/tornado.jpg Here's a couple samples of what I'm working on... 1) One from scratch, using a cloner and a tracer. I'm not sure how to texture this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/emitter-tornado.c4d 2) A modified example of a TP setup: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/tp_vortex.c4d

tezuka 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2011 I would use a couple of techniques together to get the look you are looking for, Hair with a high Antialiasing Filter blurres Hair and gives a nice starting point, then maybe another "pass" with the tornado as a solid object with some SSS (ChanLum/Fog Shader) effect and last but not least a lot of Postwork. Here's my setup, I used two tracers and basically your emitter setup:
