mgrvsh 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2011 I think I know the answer already but, is there a way to add effects to a 3d pre-comp with collapse transformations without it screwing up render order, lights and shadows, blending modes, etc. of the nested layers? I've always accepted it as "just the way AE's 3d works," but if anyone knows of a workaround, let me know.
Nick Campbell 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2011 You could try using an alpha matte of the same precomp. to try to color correct only that specific part of the animation. That could be a work around.
mgrvsh 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2011 Nah, as soon as I make the Alpha Matte all my 3d shadows disappear.
Mylenium 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) is there a way to add effects to a 3d pre-comp with collapse transformations without it screwing up render order, lights and shadows, blending modes, etc. of the nested layers? Unfortunately not. You could build a chain of pre-comps where the effects are applied in 2D, then the stuff is assembled in another 3D comp which in turn is nested in your main comp and use expressions to remote control the effects, but that's probably as good as it gets...
