anothername 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 Been trying out some demos and different noise reduction plugins. Just bought Neat Video which seems to be the best I've found so far for the ratio of speed to quality and stability, Magic Bullet denoiser seems to get good results but is a lot slower and very crashy, the Revision effects DE:Noiser seems to make footage look blurier than the other two plugins (at least with the shots I tested it with). Are there any other plugins/methods of denoising footage I should try? What do you think the best option is for removing noise from footage while softening the overall image as little as possible? Peedy 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 I've just been working on a really heavy project (for Staples, Canada), shot in 1080 on green screen. The footage is pretty noisy so I needed to clean it before using Keylight, or else the edge is noisy. I found the MB denoiser to be most effective to reduce noise, while preserving detail. The native 'Remove Grain' plugin is ok, but very slow. One of my renders for a 7minute film, was nearly 16hours - which was a real problem for the deadline. I'll take a look at that DE:noiser plugin to compare, but I'd be interested to hear if there are any better ways to do this.
basilisk 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2011 when I have been doing some hard exposure pushing with Red and Alexa footage (bringing out a face in deep shadow, for instance, or footage of a car passing from bright sunlight to shadow) MB Denoiser has been a real shot saver.
