Poly tree in C4D

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to create a tree in Cinema4d for an illustration I'm doing. Ideally I'd like it to be made of polys because I want to show the facets in the design, otherwise I'd use particles and tracer. Does anyone know how I can do this without spending several hundred dollars on a plugin?

You can still use Tracer, use a simple shaped spline in the sweepNURBS and delete the phong tag. This will give it the faceted look.

cheers

splines and sweepnurbs should be the best approach i would think. As Tim said, delete the phong tag to show the polygons.

If its a simplistic illustration, then sphere workd great too.

and in R13 now that you can ctrl-drag objects to clone them its easier than ever to make trees.

edit: felt like making a tree:

here is the c4d file: http://www.mediafire.com/?j1b5png5no7xo5q

the trunk was just made from a cube, i just extruded the top face and scaled it. Then i extruded one of the side faces to get the offshoot branch.
