Mac Mini Server good for mograph?

Recommended Posts

I am need of a new computer and I've been looking a little into getting the Mac Mini Server.

Is it good enough for motion graphics (mainly c4d&ae) or should I buy a new PC instead?

Mac Mini server is 999$ For that price you can get a PC that can handle C4D and AE (not blazing fast but if you are on a budget you can find something that will do the trick). If you are on a budget you can find used PC from people who upgrade frequently that will better suit your needs than a mac mini. If you absolutely must get a mac then spend a little more and get an imac.

Should you by any reason go for a Mac Mini (it's sweet machine after all, silent) look at the middle model

as it has a dedicated graphics card. Add the i7 processor option and fill it with 16GB ram, from third party.

Cheers

What are you people talking about? There are armies of motion graphics designers still getting by on Core2Duo Macbook Pro's.

Don't get all hung up on the power. It's nice not having to wait but if you need Real Ultimate Power for every project you're working on then maybe your ideas are getting a bit tool/technique-heavy instead of conceptually strong.

That's not a very good reason for buying something underpowered, especially when you can buy something that would be powerful enough for the same amount of money.
