2D character animation resources, tutorials, etc.???

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much everyone! These are great links! Very helpful!

Any other resources that are specifically for After Effects???

Or is there a better program for this type of animation? Toon Boom or something similar?

Thanks again! This forum rocks!

Toon Boom Animation is like Flash but with an interface designed specifically for professional animators, it has IK but no bones yet. Either of those two are the most popular cel-style tools. Digicel Flipbook is one of the most popular line-testing and hand-drawn tools, TV Paint is another. AE can be ok for certain specific styles but probably isn't the best tool for learning how to animate characters per se.

Check out Tiny Inventions making of videos for 'Something Left, Something Taken away' - they used to be buried on their blog somewhere and show some interesting rigs similar to teh tutsplus stuff.

Disney 'Illusion of Life' is the other big book, and maybe Preston Blair's stuff
