Took me three days but I finally did it: Kinect to Cinema 4D Point Cloud!

Recommended Posts

Thanks. Fun but, no…

The upside is that the points are ordered,

(tried that with pCONNECTOR and it lines up fine )

The downside is how to treat the omitted points,

I tried different raw algos but the noise is too big

in the source (every other random point in a broken scanline

pattern are omitted)

I would assume PLA it (include the omitted points

placed out of sight) then find a mesh method

as you then can play the source in real time.

Cheers

Lennart

I baked the PLA in and it kinda increased the size of the project file. It went from 16 megs to 1 gig. That's for 1100 frames. Most of my shots will be less than 100 frames so the projects will be a lot smaller. Now to draw the mesh. That's where I'm lost.

Just the Kinect. I am testing with the Xbox version but the Kinect for windows has some added features for developers, the one I want most is the near mode which allows you to get closer and stay within the range of the depth sensor. I am going to be shooting an actress with this and the closer I can get to her face, the better.
