Maya help: Thicken surface without showing polys - glass shader

Recommended Posts

So, I've got this Seagrams bottle model with a mia x glass shader on it... I trying to add about a millimeter of thickness to the model and I've tried to extrude inwards while "keeping faces together" and that's keeping the outer shell of the model smooth, but the inner shell of it is showing polygon seams (since the bottle is see through with the glass shader)... Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Without looking at the model, My first suggestion is to freeze transformations and then delete all history of object. Re apply texture, also check your normals, it kind of looks like you hit 'extrude' one too many times and there are two sets of faces sitting on each other.

Are you using a preset glass mia shader?
