xiaoali 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2013 Is there a way to turn all the 2D Source points in After Effect's 3D camera tracker into nulls? I get the full menu with 3D Solved, but when I toggle it back to 2D source it only gives me the option to delete points. I wanted to then use the null points to create a triangulation look either with Plexus or something else. Not actually for a real project. I just wrapped a project with MLK in it and had the footage handy.

xiaoali 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 Figured that would've been too easy. Anyone have suggestions?
Mylenium 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Classic: http://www.motionscript.com/mastering-expressions/lst-lens-flare.html Explains all you need to know on converting 3D coordinates to 2D ones. And his dudeness that is myself created these tools exactly for dealing with large amounts of points/ Nulls: http://myleniumstuff.com/2012/01/06/symmetrion/ http://myleniumstuff.com/2012/06/10/pointgluexyz/ Mylenium Edited July 12, 2013 by Mylenium
C.Smith 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2013 What's interesting is whomever coded the tracker clearly had to have the data in screen space to at the very least draw the widgets on screen to show where the final points are. Seems like it wouldn't be too hard in a future update to allow you to click on a point and have it create a null with 2D track keys. Kind of like the "Reconsile3D" node in Nuke. stoiqa 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2013 You`ll need to do a 3d object tracking. In this case, supervise track just the face. If the the face movement is more planar, it`s possible. If it has plenty of rotation, you`ll need at least Syntheyes.

Should be trivial, though there may be precision issues that will require extra work since widget coordinates are usually not sub-pixel exact. xiaoali 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2013 Thanks for the resources Mylenium, will check them out. Yeah, I figured since it generated so many points... who knows, maybe a future update?
