plexus and obj

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have an illustrator file of a map of Africa.

And, I wanted to use this as an obj in AE with plexus at points throughout the model.

But the illustrator file is just an outline when brought into cinema.

How would it be best to get some geometry into this model..

Thanks

Graham

Hi - thats interesting. Might use that again some other stage.

But that gives me an outline of the path, where as I would like some geometry/facets and triangualtion in the actual map.

Short of tracing over in cinema, Im not sure how to get it.

Plexus only draws lines between points--if all you have is an outline, all you'll get are edges. You'll get the same result if you trace it in Cinema--since there won't be any vertices in the interior of the model, you won't get any points there.

The easiest solution would probably be to take the pen tool in Illustrator and just drop a bunch of random points all over the interior of the vector.

The quickest way to break it into little bits in Illustrator is going to be use the knife tool. You can draw your slices just by drawing straight through from one side to the other.

It will then make every bit into little pieces.
