Guest pixel_pimp Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Does anyone have any experience sending broadcast (NTSC) graphics to a Quantel eQ system, via digital transfer (FTP, local servers) or on Tape (Digibeta from a DDR). I work at a post house that has recently installed a eQ system. They want to bring in files over the network straight into the box. Is there a Codex or special steps, format, frame rate, interlacing that should be taken into consideration? We finish both in-house and out-of house TV spots. Graphics created in-house and sent over from another place. We have been outputting all graphics through a DDR interlaced (lower-field) for them to use to DigiBeta. The eQ operator says, that many times they have have to resize, move, or modify those graphics that are interlaced. This causes a jitter or poorer quality due to the interlacing being changed. We are trying (in progress) to send the graphics without interlacing straight to the system. If anyone has worked with this system (eQ) please let me know. Guest vuzz Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Taken from AE vol2 Advanced tech by Trish&Chris Meyer Quantel NTSCsystems, have a unusual format of 720/488 pixels, upperfield first. When you are sending files to a Quantell, it is bad idea to send it a different number of lines than it expects, as it might streach the frames to meet the desired size and messing up the fields in the process. A bettre approach is to use the AFX2VPB plug-in from (www.fandev.com) which translates the Quantel native .VPBfiles to720/486 pixel LFF media on the way in, and translates 720/486 LFF renders to 720/488 UFF VPB files on the way out. crazy stuff to need for such a high end machine, but thats how it goes V
