How do U get the afx echo effect to trail *behind*???

Recommended Posts

Guest ALPHAMEGA

Hey boys and girls! :)

I'm trying to get the afx time>echo effect to trail *behind* an animated object...for some reason it likes to echo ahead of the object...which is ridiculous, but I'm sure it's useful too.

Any tips on this?

Oh, and just want to thank Igor for inadvertently explaining how to do a hundred diff vector style effects with his UltraLoveNinja tutorial!!!

That's where I finally found out about echo.

Thanks everyone! :D

:D Glad it lead you to some new styles. I wish i could say the same for myself. I learnt about the echo-filter in an esciloscope-effect tutorial, which helped me figure out other effects too, but i guess i didn't play enough yet to come up with my own new stuff.

To your question: Do you mean behind in space or in time?

For time, change the first setting (the german term is "abstand in sekunden", i guess in english it will be called "intervall in seconds"). If it's negative it will be trailing behind, if it's positive it will be ahead.

For space, change the last setting, called "operator" (at least in the german version), which gives you different methods of compositing.

Haha!

That was silly...

If echo time is set to a positive number, echo is ahead of the object.

If negative number, echo is behind.

A bit counter-intuitive...but soooo glad to get it working!

YAY! :D

I was typing the last reply to my own post when U replied, Igor! :D

I had admittedly gotten caught up in a vector echo afx frenzy!

Haha!

Thanks sooo much for replying so fast.

U rock! :D

Feel free to share any other tips and tutorials U might have, that ultraninja tut really blew things wide open.

I'm feeling out the whole echo stripe and isometric popout scene right now.

Thanks again! :D

Hey Igor

Where can I find this Ultra Love Nija tutorial or afx time>echo effect that you & Alphamega are referring to.

That MK12 Ultra Love Ninja clip is so cool.

André

hi André,

the tutorial is in "mograph central" forum and it's called "type birth". At the moment I'm writing it's on page 4.
