This image is just crazy ! ...

and now you got ...

Ophelia threatens Florida

Tropical storm heads toward state's eastern coast

China death toll from Typhoon Talim jumps to 124

Typhoon fades but leaves at least 15 dead in Japan

we got to help out people and mother nature before it's to late!

Neil Young

We got a thousand points of light

For the homeless man

We got a kinder, gentler,

Machine gun hand

We got department stores and toilet paper

Got styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer

Got a man of the people, says keep hope alive

Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive.

Hmmm...which comments?

41654[/snapback]

actually it's the apparent contradiction in her statements.

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment."

---

"Thank President Clinton and former President Bush for their strong statements of support and comfort today. I thank all the leaders that are coming to Louisiana, and Mississippi, and Alabama to our help and rescue.

We are grateful for the military assets that are being brought to bear. I want to thank Senator Frist and Senator Reid for their extraordinary efforts.

Anderson, tonight, I don't know if you've heard -- maybe you all have announced it -- but Congress is going to an unprecedented session to pass a $10 billion supplemental bill tonight to keep FEMA and the Red Cross up and operating."

"I know what the people are suffering. The governor knows. The president knows. The military officials know. And they're trying to do the very best they can to stabilize the situation.

Senator Vitter, our congressional delegation, all of us understand what is happening. We are doing our very, very best to get the situation under control.

But I want to thank the president. He will be here tomorrow, we think. And the military is sending assets as we speak."

It seems a bit on the contradictory side to threaten to punch the president and claim his visit was a photo op, and then to thank him for his support and praise his efforts....perhaps i don't have the full story, but it just seems a little too much like she's attempting to save political face....

did i tell you guys that on my way back to alabama from mobile i saw a big military hummer overflowing with huggies diapers and baby wipes headed into new orleans? for some reason that made me giggle uncontrollably....it's just so not what you generally expect in the back of a military hummer!

And heeeere's the those walking meat props.

firemenprops.jpg

So let me get this straight, there's no time to play the 'blame game,' which is today's meme coming out of the White House. But there is time to assemble a crew of young, able-bodied, trained, first-responders to serve as photo props on Wednesday, 8/31, while thousands of people were still on their rooftops or in their attics who've since perished.

@ Richard.

Do you have a credible source or something? Any links? Cause that's even for me hard to believe, and pretty messed up. I simply can't put that together in my head.

Just watched a story about Charity Hospital, and there went my head, 'sploding again. I don't know who to blame, but everyone was in that hospital (and even I knew they were there) for three days before anyone showed up to rescue them. When a CNN reporter like Sanjay Gupta goes into the hospital on Tuesday and reports of the terrible conditions live on TV, and they aren't rescued until like Friday...I just don't know what to say.

On Monday, though, Bush reports that he did have a conversation with Mike Chertoff of Homeland Security...about illegal immigration! BLAM! There went my head again.

with all of the negative energy circulating around how officials have handled this catastrophe, let's not forget all of the people who are out there working and helping and saving lives in spite of what many believe to be a foiled bureaucracy.

in no particular order...

thanks to all of the doctors working around the clock in uncomfortable conditions.

thanks to all of the rescue workers who were quick to respond (though delayed by the government), and who put the safety of others before their own safety. thanks for jumping out of helicopters, exposing yourself to diseases, wading through 5 feet of liquid filth, and saving the lives of thousands.

thanks to all of the states who have pitched in to help, both taking in refugees and sending in more forces.

thanks to all of the volunteers who may still have homes but spend night and day taking care of those in the shelters.

thanks to all of the businesses who are continuing to offer pay and attempting to relocate many of their employees, and some for even finding and purchasing entire housing complexes for those who have been displaced.

thanks to all who have contributed money, clothes, and other much-needed supplies to various relief efforts.

thanks to all of those sending positive thoughts and prayers down here.

thanks to those having this discussion, for thinking for yourselves, learning from this incident, and trying to figure out how to keep the delay in response from happening again.

and thanks to all that i missed -- there will be many unrecognized heroes throughout this tragedy, but your efforts will certainly never be forgotten by those whom you aided.

my deepest and most sincere gratitude to all of you.

Oh yes, the people that are there to help must be doing a hell of a job. Much respect to them.

But back to Bush-bashing (simply because it makes me feel a little better):

Enter "failure" or "miserable" or "miserable failure" in google and hit "i feel lucky".
