Guest pixel_pimp Report post Posted January 26, 2004 I am trying to get the after effects light to interact with a 2D surface realistically. I have a title that was printed on a sheet of paper and crumpled up and scanned in. I need to create a light source that is similar to an old candle flickering. My problem is the light isn't picking up and surface detail, based on whatz in the scan. Thanks Pixel
Guest Sao_Bento Report post Posted January 26, 2004 The easiest thing would be to do the effect in a 3D app. To do it in AE I think you'd need to check out a plug-in along the lines of Forge Freeform or Zaxwerks Invigorator to create a surface that can actually interact with a light. You have to remember that AE is fake 3D - it's far from being able to reproduce all the surface properties a real 3D app can. http://www.forge.net/prod.htm http://www.zaxwerks.com/
Guest parallax Report post Posted January 27, 2004 Why don't you simulate that by using a layer (fractal or some combination of several filters) as the light source, and play around with the blending modes. If you don't have to see the actual light source, you can do whatever you want to fake it. Even if you DO see a candle, it doesn't really matter. Got any pictures to clarify your problem?
