WHERE MY GIRLS @?

Recommended Posts

Guest UNIKFREK

Yo. I'm just wonderin' how many girls are using Mograph. It seems to be a boy's world out there - but we girls gotta stick together.

So girls - let's see some posts. I wanna see who is working where and better yet, let's see some work.

can you dig?

aight.

I've mentioned this before, but the broadcast design world used to be predominantly female. If you had attended the BDA conferences before it was folded into Promax, you would have noticed about 65-70% of the designers were female. In fact, this is only my 2nd job where there are more male designers than female.

My favorite was the girl with the cute anime avatar who posted once about traveling to London and maybe meeting motion people. She got three replies within a few seconds. Never heard from her again.

Maybe she's DMC, what?, or Awesome Swelles' girlfriend now.

(Not that they were the ones who replied...)

Otherwise, there's Amydot, parsonsproject, beryl...er...my avatar... (I might've over-counted.) There also used to be jeanorama, but that's a long story.

Where my girls at

From the front to back

Well is you feelin' that

Well put one hand up

Can you repeat that

Tryin' to take my man

See I don't need that

So don't play yourself

True, but in my experiences, most of the women are really great graphic designers that do primarily the art direction or style of a spot. I seem to notice less women in the actual "Mograph" or animation of a spots process. This was true in Denver and now in NY, it seems to be similar. I have met many of dope female designers here, and very few actually animate the spots. Or mabye its just my experience thus far.

I've only met one girl that did motion design and that was in Florida, she was good but I think she went to web design. Haven't met one female that mograph's here in Oregon. Though I think Impactist has a female mographer.
