does anyone know how to go about preserving vector paths when you saving out of illustrator cs2 so you can open them in AE using invigorator? Im getting the message "there were no usable vector paths in this file".

Is it possible that Invigorator can't use CS2 files? Try exporting as Illustrator Legacy...CS1 or earlier.

I still export Illustrator 8 files because those are the only ones it seems to like consistently.

jasfish is right. Files must be saved down to Version 8.
