C4D Particle Question

How do I get particle to emit based on say the color channel of a shader?

 

I trying to recreate this: http://blender.org/cms/Blender_Composite_Node.744.0.html#

 

In Blender they have the shader emitting particle to give the Lava that smokey vapor look. Not a big blender fan, but i was checking it out and say this. I figured there had to be a way to rebuild this scene in C4D.

If you want a texture to control particle emission, use matterwaves. That's exactly what its there for. :) Very easy to set up. Just use a black and white map to control particle emission.

 

The smokey effect is easily done with pyrocluster in conjunction with particles.
