govinda 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 shall i register? No, we should have consensus on a name. There'll be an email later today... Does anyone know how hard it would be to get someone like MediaTemple to donate hosting? I know that they often help out people and only ask for their logo/banner on the site.I'm not talking full-on sponsorship à la Cow with banners all over the place. Just a little you-rub-my-back-and-I'll-rub-yours. If it were hosted by a tierce party, the responsability would be more akin to moderators who don't actually own anything. The admins/mods could come and go without it all being the responsability of one person. This is totally what I'm thinking, and why I didn't just do it myself as supremo-grandee-pasha-of-the-wiki. I know for a fact I'll get worn out on it. The more mods the better. The advantages of being a mod aren't many, but you do get some status bump in the biz. As for Media Temple, cool idea by me. I agree it shouldn't advertising a la the Cow, or else ownership could get contentious and contracts required, god forbid. This is Hacienda Club and Factory Records, a non-contract signed in blood, send your bills to New Order.
valerialaura 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 I'd love to help in any way I can. I know I don't post often, but I do use the site a lot when in need of help and answers, and a wiki is a great idea to have it all in one place. count me in

govinda 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 We've migrated to a forum solely set up (thanks to yuppster) to talk about the wiki. We had a lot of replies to the early-morning email spam, but not everyone has registered there. So go on, whatcha waitin' for? There's stuff going on hopefully daily. For one thing, we're not quite through deciding what to name it (mographwiki.net leads by ten lengths). Motion Graphics Wiki Forum

govinda 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Awww, yuppster has a cuter girlfriend than I could ever be. We can keep talking about it here, by the way. I just wanted that extra step to go to another forum so that people have at least that much commitment. Maybe some occasional reports here wouldn't be a bad idea. The general feeling is that the wiki grows out of mograph.net--they're attached at the hip. But they're not cohosted or anything. Since the Cow won't be friendly to the wiki, and the wiki needs friends, it'll be good to have people going there from here...and from motionographer, CGTalk, xplsv, Sermon's site, MGLA, Pixelcorps and other places where we promote it once it's in beta. mete_shop 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2006 homeslices, A beta (or maybe alpha) mograph wiki is up on yuppster's host: http://www.flatalbert.com/_drop/_mograph/m...x.php/Main_Page Everyone is invited to go there, set up profiles and start adding information. Add whatever you think is useful, don't go overboard... we haven't nailed down a structure yet, but that shouldn't really matter as the organization of everything can be done and redone easily. So get busy, let's build this baby!

yuppster 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 Just to let everyone know, it's still extremely early in the process. The look, functionality and organization of the site are all going to change in some way. Right now we're just throwing information out there and experimenting with the best way to deal with it. I'm learning the wiki software and messing with the features available to us. And sometime we should be moving to mographwiki.net. But please, by all means, start contributing. And if you've got thoughts about how the site should be run or could help out technically (especially with PHP programming), please create an account at the mograph wiki forum. yuppster 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 lets say we want to add to this. is it kosher for me to put an example from a studio or another artist up here? Yes, that's the idea of a wiki. Right now you don't even have to register - just hit edit and add a page. We probably should make it so you have to register first - it's pretty painless.
