silatix 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 this is gonna be massive. damn. i wonder though.. how important is it to have companies and schools all listed on the main page.. theres a shitload of companies and schools. how can we differentiate who is worth checking out? theres gonna be a need to do some subsectioning i think? mete_shop 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 (edited) The main page won't look like it does right now. All the skeleton is currently laid out, every category every article. Later on we'll have to decide on how to present things. Edited October 4, 2006 by mete_shop
jan 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 I added a "current competitions" category. The "community sites" category needs a lot of "subsectionning". I don't where to start and where to stop!
Fred Camino 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 hey a number of the XSI links are dead. what up wit dat!
mete_shop 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 if they're dead, that means no one has entered anything yet. go ahead, don't be shy.

yuppster 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 (edited) Hmm, I don't see Fred registered... I went ahead and removed those links and made a note of it in the "discussion" page. Just so everyone knows, I made it so you have to register to edit any pages. I can always switch it back if anyone objects. But if you see stuff like that, ya, totally change it. Please let me know if any of you have any ideas about the wiki and how to make it better... or what you like/don't like. It would be really helpful in moving forward. Guest fletty Report post Posted October 7, 2006 have added a couple of sections... Career eg. freelance, senior etc. We could have a brief description of what each role is (like experience needed, tips for developing your career etc) and Disciplines & Genres eg. ad agency, tv station etc. We could have an explanation of what each workplace does, and how it interacts with the wider motion graphics community. See my example entry in ad agency. and expanded the topics in technical and design sections too. thought we could have a brief description under design > history of key movements, ie art novueau, modernism, post modernism, kistch etc, and how they influence motion graphics etc also a breakdown of design elements ie line, form, symmetry etc and how they relate to motion graphics. hopefully this can encourage some lateral thinking and creativity... govinda 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 Let's not let this slow down toooo much (though everyone knew it would slow down somewhat). I got busy on two jobs and couldn't do a damn thing, so tonight I wrote a longer mograph.net piece. If you look at the actual Wikipedia, there's an entry on Alpha Channels. The way I think it should be done is to rewrite that entry with some added emphasis on motion graphics. Like, for example, a little less on the compositing math and more on straight vs. premultiplied and separate alphas and a link to working with separate alphas as delivered by CG shops...or whatever. yuppster 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 Oh good, thanks for that Mograph.net entry. Ya, I think the entries should all be looked at through the "mograph lens". On an unrelated note, I think we should set up a weekly ichat or IRC session so we all can talk about this stuff in realtime. I think that would help move things along. When is a good time for everyone?
sib 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 I'm always down for a good IRCing. realtime interaction might be the kick in the pants this project needs.

I think that would help move things along. When is a good time for everyone? I suggest: Friday 6pm PST Monday 6pm PST (The idea behind writing an entry at length is to invite edits, by the way. I left off details like the exact founding date in the mograph entry that Firemind could fix, completely forgot to mention the job board, and didn't include 'belt around the world.') Friday @ 6 sounds good. The easiest thing for everyone would probably be the #mograph room on IRC. - Go to http://www.ircatwork.com - Enter a name (whatever you want) - Enter irc.undernet.org as the server - Enter #mograph as the channel (or use Mirc or Ircle or whatever...) http://mograph.net/board/index.php?showtopic=8847 Everyone up for it? govinda 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2006 It's up* in its new home! http://www.mographwiki.net/index.php?title=Main_Page ____ * 'up' as in the domain is pointing intermittently to that page for now, using the .net and not the 'mographwiki.com' from what I can tell.
